Session 45: When Last We Met 7.30.23
General Summary
When last we met, the party were facing down the general of the Abyssal hordes. Summoned forth by The Avatar of Tharizdun.
His first strategy, being a commander of legions, was to summon a second demon to it side (One that was last encountered within Baphomet's maze lair). The party did their best to withstand the sheer onslaught but they began feeling the strain.
The warlocks began to attempt to banish these entities back to their home plane. Romaia's first banishment failed, But then Mistral cast a successful banishment on the general followed by Romaia pulling off a banishment on the Minotaur demon.
Stunned in Having unexpected fortune in dealing with these foes, the party make their way to the Penitent Scholar tavern. Finding it empty, they knock on the door to the cellar and eventually convince the bartender to let them in. They find something of a makeshift medic tent, with wounded being treated and resting down in the cellar of the tavern.
Eventually they are joined by Rosalind who laments that these plague demons that overran the city were the citizens of Melduinn who were "turned" by the Avatar of Tharizdun. The party exchanges their latest findings on this matter with Rosalind and take their rest for the evening.
They awake the following morning intent to set their course to the lair of the Lich, Vaarn, to deal with him once and for all. However, they are met with a new figure. Strange to some, familiar to others.
Isolde's mentor, Adluak greets the party warmly and with friendship. After a reunion with his old apprentice, Adluak informs the party that their sole duty at this moment is to destroy the last of the Artifacts of Tharizdun. He informs them that they should travel to a region in the far north known as the Forgotten Lands. Where beings of considerable power are said to dwell. After showering the party with gifts, He informs them they should be off at once.
Eammon, among others bring up the suspicious circumstances of this gentleman's appearing at this particular time and place. The party learns that a trip to the Forgotten Lands would take roughly 5 months by boat. Everything seems a little too.... convenient for getting them out of the way. Isolde however has full faith in her old mentor that he has only the best intentions for the party.
As a compromise, the party decide to seek out Cruachan, the demi-god living atop Ben Morgh to see if he will destroy the last of the items. A much shorter journey, they make their way towards the mountain, arriving just after 12 as they stand in its shadow.

Adluak - Tiefling Priest of the Order of Auril. Mentor to Isolde. Greeted the party with gifts and a new, much more inconvenient mission than the one they were on.
