Off-shoots of the Culling Legion assigned with protecting outposts from the City-States and their settlements. From adjacent farms to distant and dangerous Lumberyards, it is by far the most dangerous assignement possible for a defensive post in the Keratos Empire. From bloodthirsty Marauders to vicious fiends, the threats are constant for this formation and only the best and bravest are affected on such posts. That is, if you don't count the people mad enough to actually patrol the dens of fiends.

Composition

Manpower

The size of an Oupost Guard Regiment hinges on the magnitude and location of their charge. If a farm close to a City-States wall can get away with twenty protectors, around five hundred are necessary to protect the most valuable outposts the Empire has. Not only to keep workers safe, not only to quell rebellions when the workers are slaves, not only to keep ever-present monsters at bay, not only to watch for thieves seeking to plunder precious and hard to extract resources, but also to make a statement about the Empire's serious approach to keeping its territories safe. A legacy that they wish to apply to the rest of the world soon.

Weaponry

Culling Legionnaries usually use their weapons a lot over short periods of time. But Outpost Guard less so compared to the rest of their Legion. They still rely on iron and steel equipment more so than the mass-produced and readily available bronze, because failing at their job often doesn't provide a second chance. A broken weapon or armor won't be easy to replace when the reinforcements are too far and there is no real escape to fall back to. It is wiser to properly equip Outpost guards than regret not arming them enough to secure their precious charge.

Vehicles

When their assignement is truly special, Outpost guards have access to Mega-Wagons to use in emergencies to escort valuables and valuable personel away from the danger. Again, their numbers depend on the size of the compound.

Structure

Outpost-Guards are supervised by the Outpost-Master or plural if need be. Outpost Masters are graded differently depending on how many people they supervise. They follow the same logic as most legions when it comes to squad formations. Finger, then Hand, then Arm, etc...
Outpost Guards are technically their own masters when it comes to conflicts of interests with other Legions, such as the Ortho Legion forces who keep the peace proper within the confines of the outpost. THe Guards call the shot and the Ortho Legionaries follow it through so as to follow the priorities. However, there is context for everything.
