Verlorenwode

The Verlorenwode is a forest that spans much of the southwestern quadrant of Dreibach, including large parts of the Southern Duchy and Western Duchy. It is bordered on the west by the Hephaestan Ridge, on the south by the Impossible Mountains, and to the north and east by the Dovrian Plains.
The Verlorenwode is extremely sparsely populated, and difficult to travel through and live in. Strange magical energy is pervasive throughout. It is believed to be the home of demons, ghosts, and many other cryptic and often bloodthirsty creatures. Travelers report experiencing sightings of strange beasts and apparitions, frequently missing items, and constant nightmares. This energy draws in worshippers of Demon Lords and dark gods; temples and monuments to dark and unknowable forces are scattered throughout the forest. The oldest and most infamous example is Gorgonhenge, which is believed to be an ancient summoning circle for the Demogorgon.

Fauna & Flora

The Verlorenwode is a temperate deciduous forest environment, mostly consisting of broadleaf trees like hickory, maple, and chestnut. Kudzu grows thickly in the underbrush and around the trunks of many trees.
