Malakar

Malakar is an island in the southwestern Aquatic Kingdoms known for its hot climate and heavy volcanic and geothermal activity. Its largest city is Urbana al-Svara.

Geography

The bulk of Malakar's topography consists of eleven shield volcanoes, four of which have collapsed into calderas. The largest caldera sank into the ocean and became Obsidian Cove on the southwestern shores of the island, a resource-rich area near which most residents of Malakar have settled. The city of Urbana al-Svara occupies a small peninsula that juts out between Obsidian Cove and the deeper harbors on the west side of the island, allowing for oceangoing ships.
A volcanic rift known as the Salamant Rift divides the island nearly in half, north to south. 90% of Malakar's population lives on the relatively volcanically inactive western half. On the eastern half are much more active volcanoes, the largest of which is Mount Saptaka, home of the Phoenix Regnant. South of that, in the center of the island, sits Lake Gaathika, home to the Circle of the Caldera.
