Wrongling
Almost certainly a cat. Or a weird dog? Maybe it's a deer. Anyway, it's your pet now. It's helpful. Very clever. And, uh, dexterous.Wronglings are, simply put, the descendants of a cryptid and a mundane animal. Because there are so many types of animals and the exact number of cryptids are unknown, and because wrongling unions are rare, little is known about the specifics of wrongling biology.
Basic Information
Anatomy
A combination of their cryptid and domestic parents, these creatures look mostly like a normal domestic animal but have an otherworldly quality to them. Odd fur colors, textures, and patterns are common, slightly less common are more or less body parts than normal, or odd placements thereof. The more recent the cryptid parent, the more pronounced and unsettling the odd features are.
Genetics and Reproduction
Most wronglings are capable of sexual reproduction, and without fail all but one of the young will be totally normal. Also without fail, once a mundane animal bears a Wilds-tainted litter they will never bear another.
The wrongling traits lessen with successive generations, and generally it is the third generation that is most prized as a good balance of Wilds sensitivity and normalcy.
Growth Rate & Stages
Varies based on mundane and cryptid parents, but mostly match the mundane parent.
Ecology and Habitats
Governed by the mundane parent.
Dietary Needs and Habits
Mostly governed by the mundane parent, although some of the parent cryptid's habits tend to show through.
Biological Cycle
Governed by the mundane parent.
