Confederacy of Hanesia
The Confederacy of Hanesia is a conglomerate of five autonomous regions: Western Coast, Southern Reigons, Liyan, Eastearn Borderlands, and the Northern Reaches.
Government
The Confederacy of Hanesia is made up of five united factions that govern independently, yet collaborate on broad issues. Traditionally, Liyan was the center of Confederate affairs since it was the most powerful of the five factions. The five leaders would meet and discuss current affairs, yet the actual policy was decided and implemented independently. However, after Liyan was sacked by the Albion Empire, the Confederacy is in disarray. After the First Hanesian War, each faction pledged to stand united if one of the factions was attacked. However, after Liyan, their infrastructure was destroyed and none of the four remaining factions could muster enough resources to use collectivley and are instead focused on their faction's power or wellbeing. Currently, the Lady of the West, created a War Council in the spirit of the First Hanesian War pledges of unity. However, the Confederacy has proved to be too decentralized to make a formidable stand against Albion.The Western Coast
Following the sacking of Liyan, the Western Coast has become the center of power in the Confederacy. The Western Capital, and coloquial namesake of the Western Coast, Moladrynshar, was once the economic hub of the Alviran West Coast, but now hosts the majority of of the war effort in addition to housing displaced Liyanese citizens. As the second most powerful faction of the Confederacy, Moladrynshar took a leadership role in the fight against Albion. However, much of Moladrynshar's resources have been depleted over the last six years due to the conquest of Liyan and the Northern Lord's refusal to contribute heavily to the war. In an attempt to hold the Confederacy together, Lady Haniya created a War Council of Hanesia which includes every faction leader in the Confederacy. However, the Northern Lord has refused to show for any meeting and preferes to send his oppinions and votes via correspondence which takes time. The Eastern Lord is preoccupied with the border and rampant crime. The Southern Lady is busy defending against active Albion incursions. And the Lady of Liyan is currently a hostage in Albion; although, her son represents Liyan in her stead.Lady of the West
Lady Haniya Lheam is the only major half-elven leader besides House Besk on Alviera. She is a decendent from the line of Alboril V's sister. Since the fall of Liyan, her regional capital of Moladrynshar has become the center of power in Hanesia. Being a capable poitician, Lady Haniya knows she, the Western Coast, and all of Hanesia lies in a precarious position. Albion's surprise attack on Liyan caught the entire confederacy off gaurd and they have been both slow to respond militarily and slow to recover internally. Their infrastructure has been toppled and the five factions have not unified as they should. The Northern Reaches is more concerned about consolidating individual power than maintaining the independence of the Confederacy and her faction's resources are more depleated than she will admit. She fears aid from Dobright and Airdan will not sustain them much longer. However, outwardly, she exudes an aire of confidence and continues to ridicule Albion for only managing to conqure one faction in six years.Liyan
The namesake of the center of power in the Confederacy also extends to the faction surrounding the capital. Liyan was the economic and cultural hub of Hanesia. However, in 830FE, Albion forces launched a surprise attack on the Confederacy and sacked the capital. Their forces soon spread to the surrounding land and engulfed Liyan entirely. That is where they stayed for a few years hoping to force the Confederary into submission. However, Lady Haniya refused to rejoin Albion and Emperor Alboril X's forces began conquest of the Southern Reigions in early 836FE.Lady of Liyan
Lady Katina Nahleen was the leader of the Liyan and the surrounding area; all of which is occupied by Albion. Since the initial assault in 834FE, Lady Katina has been a hostage of the Albion Empire. In her absence her eldest son Fijorl represents the people of Liyan; now displaced by the war.The Eastern Boarderlands
While not occupied, the Eastern Boarderlands has suffered greatly since the invasion. Most of the eastern population paniced after the Sacking of Liyan and many fled to the Western Coast leaving the border defensless. Since then, the capital of Hendowen has struggled to keep order in the faction and the borders are sparcely maintained. With crime rampant in the East, Hendowen is desparate for aid, but Moladrynshar is bogged down with refugees, attempting to maintain the Confederacy, and aiding Southern Reaches who are cut off from the rest of Hanesia. The North refuses to expend most resources and has even taken to guarding their southern border to keep Easterners out of the north.Lord of the East
Lord Alvio Skent has taken to commanding what is left of the Eastern military. He has focused his defenses on several points and concentrated his forces on those points. Most of which include the border with Liyan and several hills along the Albion border. Alvio has the misfortune of being the closest to the enemy and his people have been consumed with fear. He suspects the Emperor's Whispers have been active in his cities spreading fear and panic amongst the Easterners, but he lacks the resources to root them out. With his focus on the Eastern Borderlands, he lacks the bandwith to participate lady Hanyia's War Council. In his stead, he sent his eldest daughter, Coralenya, to liase for the East. Yet, their constant need to correspond before votes has greatly slowed Hanesia's response.The Northern Reaches
The Capital of Sherforn rests at the northernmost point of the Confederacy. The Northern Reachs boast strong diplomatic relations with the Kingdom of Dobright. Because of these strong relations, the Northern Reaches have been largly uneffected by Albion's invasion. Although, they have been heavily criticized for their unwillingness to take the displaced citizens of Liyan.Lord of the North
Lord Archil Bomoth has ruled the Northern Reaches for over 20 years. He is known to have a strong friendship with King Keoforoy Besokol of Dobright. This friendship has been particulalry useful since Albion's invasion. However, Albion's invasion put a pause in his plans to marry one of his children to one of the King's children, particulalry the eldest Princess Olnolya or Prince Marokol, heir to the throne. Lord Archil was in the middle of negotiating a marriage between his eldest son and the King's eldest daughter when word of Albion's assault on Liyan reached him. Lord Archil has been reluctant to accept displaced Liyanese citizens which has drawn criticism from the other Lords and Ladies, particularly the young Lord Fijorl of Liyan. He has hesitated to provide much support to the other factions of Hanesia or contribute to the war effort beyond sending the required troops. Many in Moladrynshar speculate that Archil is hoping to elevate the Northern Reaches to a higher standing of power within the Confederacy or seceed entirely.The Southern Reigons
The capital of Tetlan relies heavily on resources from Moladrynshar and Dobright despite proximity to Airdan. Although Tetlan is hopeful the new Lord Defender will be more sympatheric to their plight. Largly cut off from the rest of Hanesia, the Southern Reigons are in a precarious position. Esspecialy given Albion's decsion to begin an assault on the Southern Reigons. With the faction cut off from the rest of the Confederacy, its resurces are limited and it is vulerable.Lady of the South
Lady Jovetha Xensor is currently the commander of the Southern Army. With little military experience she has found it difficult to strategize against trained generals. Yet, she has managed to keep Albion forces at bay; despite their early success in sacking the southern city of Gilead. Since Albion's recent assault, Jovetha has been unable to adequatly participate in Confederacy affairs including in the War Council. She has sent her son, Pendor, to Moladrynshar and her husband, Korvan, to Mel Kanen in Airdan to lobby on the Southern Region's behalf. However, they have been unable to procure more resources.History
The western coast of Albion seceeded in 658FE during the reign on Alboril VII. During this time, they were known as the Western Holds. Merely independent city-states who did not hold much international power. However, In 712 FE, Emperor Fregil II offered the Lords and Ladies of the Western the option to rejoin Albion peacefully or be taken by force. Despite the threats from the behemouth Albion, the Western Holds chose to unite and form the Confederacy of Hanesia. The short, but bloody war ended in Albion withdrawing from Hanesia and awknoledging its independence.
However, Emperor Alboril X launched a surprise attack on Liyan in 830FE which lead to the capture of the Hanesian center of power. Since the initial assault, the Albion Empire has slolwy expanded their hold to include all of Liyan and part of the Southern Reigons.

Foreign Relations
The Confederacy of Hanesia does not really have engage in dipomacy as a whole. The semi-independent factions tend to conduct their own international affairs depending on their agenda.
However, as a whole, Albion sees Hanesia as part of Albion and Dobright and Airdan are usually freindly with all of Hanesia. The degree to which Dobright ans Airdan engage with Hanesia varies by faction.
Relations with Dobright
The Northern Reaches
The North has the best relations with Dobright. Lord Archil is personal friends with King Keofory and has attempted to solidify relations with Dobright by proposing a marital alliance between their eldest children. The King was originally open to the matter but has recently refused Lord Archil's offer. Despite the rebuff, the two remain friends and Dobright sends the Northern Reaches pleanty of aid and arms.The Western Coast
Lady Haniya traditionally has good relations with Dobright and the Airdan Republic. Esspecially since Molandrynshar is a major port city on the West. A majority of trade between Airdan and Dobright goes through the Western Coast of Hanesia as to avaoid Albion tarrifs. SHe had hoped the economic importance of Hanesia would rally Dobright and Airdan to their defense, but both countries have chosen to remain neutral for fear of proviking Albion.The Eastern Borderlands
The East has traditionally focused on maintaining a working relationship with Albion, however frosty. Not that those relations have done Hanesia any good. The East's strongest relations are with Dobright. While not as strong as the Northern Reaches, the relationship is solid and the East has enjoyed aid and arms from Dobright, although Lord Alvio suspects his faction has recived significantly worse quality and less amount than the Northern Lord.Liyan

The Southern Reigons have enjoyed a close relationship with the Airdan republic. Lady Jovetha is personal friends with the Archduke d'Besk and hopes to leverage that connection with the new Lord Defender Novil l'Sondreu. However, due to Albion recently occuying some of her land, she has had little time to develop a relationship with l'Sondreu.Laws
The laws are fairly standard across Hanesia; however, the severity of punishment varies across each faction. Generally, the West and North are the strictest overall when enforcing the laws and fines or jailtime are common.
The Southern Regions are generally more lenient with minor crimes, but are very strict when it comes to major crimes such as murder, espionage, and treason. It is not uncommon for the death penalty to be leavied against a convict.
Liyan is currently under martial law while being occupied by Albion. It would be unwise to commit even the most minor of crimes in Liyan, let alone stage a rebellion.
Currently, the Eastern Borderlands are in a lawless state of panic. Underground crime organizations have solidifiyed their hold on the two major cities and Lord Alvio lacks the resources to bring his faction back under control.
Trade & Transport
Hanesia relies primarily on the fishing industry to sustain their economy. The Western Coast is the main shipping route between Dobright and Airdan. Hanesia does not impose strict tariffs so as to maintain a competitive edge over Albion's trading ports. Since most of Hanesia's economy relies on trade, much of their lumber goes into creating trading ships and other means of transportation.
However, Hanesian craftsmen are known for their pottery. Hanesian pottery is considered a luxury item and good quality items can be found in the dining halls of nobles and royalty throughout Alviera. Hanesian pottery is known for it iconic organic style and incorporating precious metals and natural specimens into the design.
