Church of the Six Dragons

When someone thinks of city of Serrano, they picture the Church of the Six Dragons. A pinnacle of architecture, science, and art this building stands tall in the center of the city. The Church of the Six Dragons is the center of all major denominations of the main religion of the world- Dracones. A main hall branches into six separate cathedrals for each demonimation- Amethyst, Emerald, Sapphire, Topaz, Crystal, and Obsidian. The High Priest of the Dragons oversees the entire building and its inner workings, while six Major Priests oversee each denomination.   Although the Church itself is in Serrano, it is not at all owned by the city. It is considered neutral land and the city is not allowed to make any changes or allowed to enforce any of the city's laws on the Church's lands. Because of this, the church is seen as a safe haven and sanctuary for not only those there to worship, but those who may have done some unsavory things.

Purpose / Function

This church was built by Hareth Stormborn, the first High Priest to hopefully bring peace to the six denominations. Once completed and his successor took over it became the place where the denominations could bring their differences and arguments before a neutral mind instead of warring. The Church has been an important part of history since its construction and has held many weddings, funerals, and judgements since.

Alterations

The crypts were built underneath the main house three hundred years after its construction. After the destruction in 1037 repairs were done in gold to highlight the building's history, growth, and renewal. New stained glass windows replaced the plain glass once stained glass was invented in 675.

Architecture

The foundation of the church is stone, though repairs were done with stone and gold. The skeleton of the building is made of wood. Each denomination features the gem idol of that denomination. The floors are marble. The materials for this building were sourced from every kingdom as equally as possible.

Ancient Era

500 PM 576 PM

This era was the beginnings of the church, from the first idea in Hareth Stormborn's mind to the final stone placed to complete The Church. This era was full of war and famine.

Golden Era

577 PM 692 PM

The golden era was an amazing transformation from the war as it had been for centuries past. In this era, peace took its reign at the hand of the first four High Priests.

Dark Era

692 PM 856 PM

The High Priest title slipped into an era of death and pain for the city of Serrano and the rest of the country of Aralencia.

Redemption Era

857 PM 970 PM

The Fullfangs had been removed from power and their surviving family had been run out of Aralencia for good. The Redemption Era was a time when the damages caused over the last two hundred years would hopefully be reversed and forgiven.

Elder Era

970 PM 1004 PM

It was seen as the best idea to place the best and wisest of those within the sects into the place of High Priest. An unfortunate side effect of this is that over the next sixty-three years there would be sixteen High Priests.

False Priest Era

1005 PM 1037 PM

A short era, but just nearly half as long as the era prior to this. This era is a dark mark on the Church's history as the gnome Thonus Malnir attempted to seize the position for good.

Renewal Era

1038 PM 1281 PM

Change has swept over the entire world and Aralencia is in uproar as a battle among the major houses each vie for new territory over the country. An uncertain era, the Church is seen as a stronghold. More and more citizens turn to religion and the High Priests of this era were forced to stay strong and fight to stay neutral in an increasingly polarized climate.
