Creation of the Dragon Knights

Religious event

Stanek Fullfang I was a paranoid individual. With the help of the King of Serrano, the Dragon Knights were born.

Stanek Fullfang I was a paranoid individual. He did not trust many of his advisors and declined to speak to many on an individual basis without at least one other person in the room. To help calm himself, he spoke to the King of Aralencia about fashioning a small company- the Dragon Knights- to always keep watch over the High Priest. It was determined that these Knights would be paid, clothed, and housed by the Church. They were not to be married or father children, they would go through grueling training, but in the end be paid extremely well for their diligence. The Church's coffers ran deep and the money, in Fullfang's mind would be well spent. The Dragon Knights began with 80 soldiers and eventually grew to its current number of 150.   Their armor was a silver-blue mithril with a six-headed dragon stamped in around the breastplate. Each soldier was issued a full-armor set to be worn at all times while on duty, two weapons (typically a one-handed weapon and a two-handed weapon), and a shield. They were given three meals a day and all the wine they wished to drink. They were paid handsomely- one gold per shift. This was significantly more than many were paid in the city.   To become a Dragon Knight, there were three trials that had to be completed within a day. 1. they must complete the equivalent of a modern duathlon- 1.5KM swim/20KM run/1.5KM swim. 2. they must walk the length of the city (nearly twenty miles) with a 150KG block of wood strapped to their shoulders 3. they must show approval of the position by their deity- forcing the Dragon Knights to be of some form of religious or deity-enforced class such as a cleric, paladin, or sorcerer. A vast majority are paladins.
