Rindra
The Empire of Rindra, a nation built off the backs of diplomacy and conquest within the center of Amracet. Founded from their capital, the city of Shastera, the Rindran people began to spread out beyond the confines of their small city-state and it's meager borders. It grew to conquer numerous peoples and grow to rival the The Haskanian Empire. United behind their leader, a divinely chosen dynastic monarch known as a Qwarayat, the Empire spreads their influence and power over the land and their satrapies.
Structure
The Empire is split into several governmental provinces, also known as Satrapies. Each of the Satrapies is ruled by a Satrap, who acts as a governor of the province. The Satrap also has a general and secretary to assist with other factors of governance. The secretary keeps paperwork in order and maintains the beauracracy, whereas the general upholds the defense of the satrapy and raises troops for upcoming wars and conflicts.
Each satrap and their subjects swear fealty to the Qwarayat. The Qwarayat is the decider of major edicts and laws within the greater empire. They are also advised by a court of councillors and advisors.
Public Agenda
The Empire of Rindra has a number of goals on the minds of their bureaucrats and citizens. One of the major goals is to secure their grasp on the Bawaaba Inlet, a large inland body of water with trade connections and access to the northern Aetisian Ocean. Another major goal of the Empire is to expand their territory to ensure the safety of their people and status, as well as the sanctity of their laws.
History
The Rindran Empire began as a small city state surrounding the lands of Shastera, in the heart of the continent. They were a landlocked minor power with a small force of militia to defend their city wall surrounded by other larger states. However, when the wife of the king had a vision of giving birth to a child that could bring the sea to their doorstep holding a green heart. The royal family saw this as prophecy, Queen Telu and King Akhaza saw it as a gift, Only a year later, the King and Queen Telu had given birth to a beautiful baby boy, who they named Hirmet. However, shortly after the birth of Hirmet, his father King Akhaza was assassinated by his trusted advisor, who took the place of regent. He had promised wealth, fame, and power to those who helped him expand his realm. Queen Telu and Hirmet fled with a group of trusted servants, fearing their own murders. They were invited to the court of the King of Vi'anshad, Orhash, and the boy was taught and tutored. When he came of age, he led the armies of the portside city state Vi'anshad against the usurper. They travelled down the Wadjtal River in waves, bringing the men from the sea to his doorstep. After the conquest of Shastera, the city and surrounding lands were given to Hirmet and he was crowned the rightful king. Orhash also wished to strengthen the bond between both cities and secure a seat of power for his daughter. He had offered Piria's hand in marriage to Hirmet. After their marriage, they went on to conquer five tribes, and now their realm had tripled in size.
Piria and Hirmet would go on to have several children, and built a flourishing kingdom together. However, after over a century of prosperity, and only fifteen years after the death of Queen Piria the Gregarious and King Hirmet the Lion, civil war would shatter the land they had built. Their four sons, each intelligent and willful, took to the land and sought to take the kingdom for themselves. The crown had been bestowed to the eldest son, King Reda. His twin sister, Princess Hedrine, was happy for her brother and stood by his side as a trusted friend and aide. His brothers disagreed with his kingship, and sought to earn the crown themselves. Shastera was plunged into civil war between four brothers. In the heart was King Reda of Shastera, to the south was the Takasian Army led by Prince Takas, the north was the City of Gerde led by Prince Nousha, and the western Farkoulem Warlords led by Prince Kheri.
The fighting was brutal and the King was stressed, his forces stretched thin. When the city of Gerde was laid siege by Prince Kheri, he decided to attempt to knock out two of his brothers at once. He took an army northwards to the city of Gerde and a battle ensued between the King's men, the warlords, and the Gerdeans. Kheri and Reda died on each other's swords, and the Gerdeans managed to hold their city. Shastera now had no king to lead it and a war on two fronts, with the Takasians eager to close in upon the city and strangle them into a surrender. Princess Hedrine took up the crown as Queen Hedrine. She raised the army still in the city, called the army back from Gerde, and readied for the oncoming wave of Takasians. When they arrived at the city, they had witnessed only a small force protecting the city itself. They laid siege to the city, and after a month has passed and the walls nearly gave to the force of the Takasians, the rest of the army led by Queen Hedrine began to rush up behind them. The Shasteran army had left the city with only a skeleton force, with the actual army leaving the city and lying in wait for the Takasians to attack. The Shasterans smashed the Takasian forces upon the walls of their city as stones were dropped upon the heads of the rebels. The Takasians were crushed, all that remained was the brother of Gerde. Word of her victory at Shastera had travelled far, the people of Gerde were tingling with a mix of fear with a dash of hope that the civil war would soon be over. When the armies of Shastera marched on Gerde, they met their forces in the hills of Terfir. A bloody battle ensued as arrows soared through the sky, shields clashed against the tips of spears, and a stalemate was drawn in the center of the hill. But to the sides, a group of Shasteran cavalry had beaten back the horsemen of Gerde and surged forward, then charged directly into the backs of the Gerdean line. The army surrendered, many were routed. Prince Nousha stole a horse from one of his dead men and fled back to Gerde. When he got there he attempted to raise another army. When Shastera reached the gates of Gerde, a group of Gerdean citizens had offered their surrender, and threatened to throw their Prince, her brother off the wall if she refused their plea. Nousha would be captured and the kingdom was once again united under the rule of Queen Hedrine the Great. Her son, King Iksan would go on to expand their land further, reaching into Kaldaro and Ilashkod. King Iksan would also institute major reforms for his new empire, founding the Empire of Rindra and being crowned Qwarayat.
Demography and Population
The population is estimated to be roughly 10.2 million people spread across all of their territories. The most populated city in the Empire is Setermuj with an estimated population of just over 450,000 in the city alone. The second largest city being Shastera with roughly 270,000 in the city. However, the cities and towns around it include roughly 1.3 million people.
Roughly 58% of Rindrans live in or near large cities or satrapy capitals, with the remaining 42% living in villages, remote communities, and towns.
Territories
The heart of their empire is the lands and city of Shastera. The heartland of the empire and central hub of Rindran culture. It also has conquered numerous other states like Hawardaro, Vi'anshad, and Setermuj. They hold solid dominion over bodies of water such as the Wadjtal river, the longest river in Amracet. They also have a firm grasp upon the Bawaaba Inlet, a stunning inlet with calm waters surrounded by tall mountains and cliffs. The Bawaaba Inlet empties into the Aetisian Ocean allowing for merchant and naval vessels to have access to cities along the northern coast and Haskania. Even reaching as far as the Mihkarian Confederacy and other continents like Czerelan. From the heartland to their northernment reaches is the Hawardiz Mountain Range, a towering wall of peaks and cliffs that guard the Bawaaba inlet from outside storms. The city of Setermuj is also upon the banks of the Claw River to the south, which empties into the Southern Serantic Ocean and allows for quick trade with the Katrapidies Archipelago.
