Qwarayat (kwa-rai-att)
The prestigious title of the Qwarayat is the designated ruler of Rindra, The Verdant Heart Empire and her territories. They overview the laws, lands, and people of the Empire with absolute authority and designates the Satraps and governors who oversee the lands that swear fealty. Since the founding of Rindra there has stood a Qwarayat, and it is their duty to rule as long as Rindra stands.
Qualifications
The Qwarayat must be annointed by a holy figure, or be descended from such an individual who was annointed by a holy figure or actual deity. For the past 500 years before the Ruination, the royal family were devout worshippers of Almara. However, after her death during The Crown Ruination they have openly worshipped her husband Fosredas, Heir of the Illuminant Sun.
Requirements
In order to be a Rindran Qwarayat, you must be a member of the current royal family, through blood or marriage. You must also be 15 years of age or older in order to rule the land. If someone is younger than 15 years of age, they will be appointed a regent until they come of age. They also must publicly worship The Campiotic Guide and lead the worship of such in their nation. The current royal family are devout worshippers of Fosredas, Heir of the Illuminant Sun. They must also be a citizen of the Rindran Empire and native from one of it's territories. Be it the bustling city of Shastera, or a frontier village on the outskirts of the Satrap of Setermuj. You must be born within the Rindran Empire to become a Qwarayat.
If there are no members elligable or left in the royal family, a new ruler must be chosen. They must prove themselves worthy of both divine and popular favor. They must also be a native of Rindra, being born in one of the territories of the Empire.
Appointment
The Anointment is a ritual for the crowning of a new qwarayat. The Qwarayat is given their new name and are given the rulership by their ancestors. They are then bathed in a mixture of oils and must lead a parade throughout the city dressed in royal garments.
Cultural Significance
The Qwarayat is the lawful ruler of all territory directly ruled by the families from Shastera. They are also the cultural head of the Rindran people and are seen as a respected figure who is chosen by divine will.
