Deepwood Gates

In the heart of the vast primeval forests of the Deepwood, the home of the Wood Elves and the site of the first fey settlement on Czerelan, the Elves built their holy city of Geata Iontas. A holy site for the elves, gnomes, and other creatures that can trace their lineage back to the ancient and storied realm of the Feywild. The holiest of these sites lies in the center of their city. The Deepwood Gates are a series of towering naturally formed towers that sprouted from the ground.   The Deepwood Gates The Sylvan Exodus saw a surge of fey creatures leave their home plane and seek a home elsewhere. The travelled alongside the Shepherds who would go on to be canonized and ascend to godhood, forming the Shepherdic Sainthood. Tagdariel, The Arcane Architect conducted a magical ritual that created giant portals that connected their realm to the neighboring plane. They vaulted through and entered into the Mortal Plane. When they walked through the mystical gate they entered into what is known as Dy Pwud, referred to by outsiders as The Deepwood. Behind them, the portal closed as the last travellers exited through the shimmering gate. The towering pillars of uncut stone bound together by vine and branch still stood. As the people stood on the other side, some pondered if the portal could once again be reopened at a safer time. However, it is uncertain if it could ever be returned to working order as a portal between realms. Now it stands as a monument to the sacrifice of their ancestors and a place of prayer.   Fey Gates As you walk through the forest, you may pass under a pair of crossed branches that happen to form an arch, realizing you find yourself in a place you do not recognize. You may look into a pool of crystal clear water and see shimmering reflections of flying sprites around you. You may enter a cave and fall into a mushroom forest that houses living boulders who roll around. Fey Gates are a very rare natural phenomena that happens at random. The Feywild and the Shadow Plane are the two realms that lie closest to the Mortal Realm. While the Shadow Plane is a bleak and inhospitable realm of shadows and nightmares, the Feywild is the exact opposite. It is an abundance of life, chaos, whimsy, and magic. Sometimes, the magic of the Feywild can interact with the Mortal Realm forming a bridge, and thus a portal that some unfortunate souls can wander through. However, the Deepwood Gates are the largest, and most permanent example of such gates.
