Czerelan

Czerelan is a continent on Omeath. Sat in the Northern hemisphere, it stretches towards the northern pole of the world. It's center is dominated by valleys, highlands, and mountains while on the edge of the land are long coastlines and several peninsulas that jut out into the Aetisian and Serantic Oceans. Two of these peninsulas point southwards and surround the Sea of Eberus. It is home to fertile plains, towering mountains, frigid tundras, and rainy island chains. However, towards the south, many find warmer climates persist with hot, dry summers, and cool, wet winters. It has been home to countless different groups and peoples. The archaic races of Giants called it their home with cities of clouds and steel. However, their collapse led to the age of mortals. Czerelan became home to the species of Dwarves, Orc, and Giant-Kin. Humans would cross over from Amracet and Elves would appear through the great portals in the Dy Pwud. From ancient empires like the Levanians, to the people and states that stand today. Czerelan is a continent with rich cultures and history.

Geography

The Waters   Czerelan is surrounded on all sides by two oceans and two seas. On the eastern and western sides are the Serantic and Aetisian oceans respectively. The north and south touch the Sea of Frost and the Sea of Eberus. The Serantic Ocean is home to long rainy coastlines with archipelagos and island chains along the coast. It is primarily dominated by The Empire of Veret, who have colonized many of the islands that are closer to the coast, as well as the large central island of Uravane. The Serantic coast of Czerelan is home to a vast trade route that sees the travel of various luxury goods between north and south. Luxury goods like dye and silk reaches places as north as Farwind, and beautiful furs and timber heads south to The Haskanian Empire. The Aetisian Ocean on the other hand allows for similar travel between north and south. One of the major differences is the presence of the Silandriir Wildlands, a region that remains mostly unsettled by mortal races and gives it the nickname of The Wild Coast. The Aetisian Ocean is home to a number of trade cities, mercenary groups, and raiders. Trade cities flourished along the coast of the Oracesi Peninsula. Raiders would then travel south and reap the riches that those cities held. In response to this, a number of pirvateer and security groups formed to fight back naval threats to the region.   To the north lies the Sea of Frost, embracing the northern coasts of Farwind and Hallen-Coredesh. A marginal sea that is home to barren islands, cold winds, and coastal fjords. The Sea of Frost is the hunting grounds of cultures that have learned to thrive in one of the most hostile environments on the planet. A number of the islands found in this northern region harbor volcanic activity. In the south lies a warm and populous inland sea. The Sea of Eberus is the sea that lies to the south of Central Czerelan. It is caged on two sides by large peninsulas and is one of the major highways for trade between Amracet and Czerelan. Various islands dot the inland sea, with the major island of Eberus in the direct center. Mount Eberus, an active volcano, dominates the island.     The Land The land is separated into several regions of import. Maluris and Oracesis to the south. The Valley and Eberus in the center. The Daggerpoint Peninsula and The Serantic Islands to the East. The Silandriir Wildlands to the West. Farwind and Tangifalla to the north. These regions are formed from geographical, cultural, and political factors on the continent. Czerelan is made of a central heart with three major mountain ranges, and a series of peninsulas that stretch into the oceans and seas that surround the continent.   Maluris is one of these peninsulas. A large and broad peninsula that forms the eastern wall between the Sea of Eberus and the Serantic Ocean. It is a land with a warm, dry climate in the center, but heavy rains along the coasts, especially during the winter. Maluris is a historic homeland of the Orcs who originated on this continent. Before the Ruination, it was united under a single nation known as The Empire of Ibanis, but the empire fell apart and now the peninsula is split between four nations. The Republics of Marceas, The Magocracy of Teori, The Salic Colonies of Veret, and the Haskanian Colony of Barcadasa. The northern reach of the peninsula is Salicia, home of the Salic peoples. They are a free spirited and warlike group who have been conquered by The Empire of Veret. To the south is the Savalfront Mountains, a cluster of rocky coastal mountains surrounded by forests.   Oracesis is the peninsula to the west of The Sea of Eberus. A fang-shaped piece of land that is home to the Oracesi people and a number of independent kingdoms and states. It is home to the earliest human settlement on Czerelan, and the straits of Sardimosa are what the humans used to cross into Czerelan from Amracet. To the north is the Silandriir Wildlands and to the east is the Sea of Eberus, a hub of trade and culture for Oracesis and the Oracesi peoples. It was the homeland of the wealthy and powerful Levanian Empire, an empire that would rule over half the continent. Its fall was over two millenia ago, but their cities are still around and relics are scattered around the peninsula. In the high mountains of Feathersilver, the Drakiza have claimed these mountains as their spiritual capital and the Cantons of the Sovori Clans are a safe haven for the Drakizi and their reptilian kin. The states of southern and middle Oracesis are primarily Human republics, duchies, and kingdoms, many of them have sought outside help to secure more power and gravitas for themselves. Northern Oracesis is home to lands and realms that are heavily inspired by the culture of the Dwarves who originate from the mountains that overlook them. Syrcasia and Sunavae have Dwarves as a sizable minority, but their culture has been forged by their influence.   Eberus lies in between the two previously mentioned regions. This inland sea is home to various colonies, islands, and states that cling to the coasts and lurk beneath the waves. Along the northern side of the sea, two powerful empires control profitable trade ports on the Sea of Eberus. Valleon controls the port of Sabonvalle, a sailing hub to the north of Eberus and the mines of Goldshore Isle. Veret and her Salic Colonies have the city of Ovessa and the naval port of Fort Canway. There is also the coast of Amrecet and The Haskanian Empire to the south, and numerous mercantile republics to the west along the Coast of Oracesis.   The Valley is a large central region in the heart of Czerelan. Stretching from the coast of Eberus to the south edge of Farwind. It is characterized by sprawling valleys and plains that rest between tall, rocky mountains. The two primary mountain ranges of this region have been settled by Dwarven peoples since time was scribed and scratched upon slabs of stone. The Aderic Mountains to the south and the Zikos Mountains to the north. Right between them both lies to Ardese Valley, home of the Kingdom of Valleon. This valley goes further north until spilling out into sprawling plains and forests that touch the Aetisian Ocean. These plains are the land of Hallen, one of the kingdoms in the union of Hallen-Coredesh.   The Daggerpoint Peninsula, home of the prestigious and proud Vereti. Heartland of the Empire of Veret and her people, it is the jewel of the empire. The peninsula is embraced by rainy coastlines, dense forests, and fertile riverbeds. In the heart of this peninsula is The Copperspine Mountains. Home to another civilization of Dwarves, the Clan of Haarinur have joined with the empire and offer an experienced and skilled province of smiths, miners, tradesmen, and warriors. To the west is the Serantic Ocean and Uravane. With it being the heart and homeland of the Empire of Veret, it is also home to its capital, the wondrous City of Silver, Ardissa.   The Serantic Islands are a series of offshore islands that lie in the coasts of the Sea of Karpemnenos. A marginal sea that lies between the Serantic Ocean and the shores of the mainland. Most of these islands are unexplored and unsettled, but a number of the larger ones have been settled by The Empire of Veret. The second largest island, Uravane, is heavily settled by Veret. The local population of Uravanese are a part of the empire. But recent secession movements have been gaining traction. One of the southern islands, Patharnae, is the largest of all the islands on the eastern coast. It is also the closest to the mainland, being only around 100 kilometers away. This island was settled by Haskanians and Vereti, but after uncovering ancient Giant artifacts, an army was gathered beneath a Giant warlord who stormed the island and conquered it. Now, an island nation of giants lies just off the coast of the mainland.   The Siladriir Wildlands are currently an unsettled region of vast growth and wilderness on the western side of Czerelan. This expanse separates the kingdom of Hallen-Coredesh from Oracesis, isolating much of that land and its people in the more remote regions. It was once settled, but time and catastrophe have taken their toll on the region. The Ruination was the final nail in the coffin as plagues, famine, and war took their toll. Eventually, much of the land was left deserted, giving itself back to nature. In the north lies a large inland sea that is home to various aquatic beasts, several of which do not fear stepping upon the land. Dense forests cover most of the region in thick foliage, covering ancient settlements. Terrifying creatures roam the landscape and remote groups carve out their living among the wilderness. Along the western coast is a gulf with a string of strange islands. The official name is the Gulf of Rhinakhatos, but its nickname is The Rib Cage due to the shape and pattern of the islands.   Farwind is the region named after the kingdom that claims it and one of the peoples who call it home. Veliky Farwind is a vast nation of many people. From the rocky cliffs of the Vas Mountains to the freezing coasts of the Chillwind Tundra. From the sprawling western plains to the base of The Daggerpoint Peninsula in the east. Farwind is a vast region with a windswept landscape that is battered by rains and clouds during spring and autumn and buried by snow and sleet during the winter. The regions are often characterized by the harsh and unforgiving winters that freeze the landscape and force the world into hibernation and sleep. Spring brings in a short respite for the following seasons of summer, which offer warmer temperatures. Central Farwind is dominated by The Vas Mountains, a colossal mountain range that embraces the breadbasket of the region, The Agre River. Leading from the mountains into the Sea of Frost, this river pours through the country. Several cities and countless villages drink from the rushing waters.   Tangifalla is a land of misty beauty and wistful mystery. The islands are icy and mountainous, with jagged coastlines of deep fjords. Tangifalla is an archipelago made of a few large islands. Mikillvorðr, the greater island that lies to the north, and Smalrvorðr, the smaller island that lies south. The islands are settled by the northern dwarves. A people who once lived in the Vas Mountain of Farwind, they would be exiled by the expansion of humanity. Their castles would be taken and their people would be pressed to the coastlines where they were forced into the sea. The dwarves thought they would sail off the world, but when they found themselves on the coasts of vast islands, they made a new home. These islands lie on the edge of the Sea of Frost and are separated by the Jotferjan Passage.

Localized Phenomena

The Ruination assailed the Mortal Realm. The landscape would forever be changed by the intrusion of otherworldy invasions and catastrophic disasters. What was left after The Ruination would be referred to as crownstains. Strange creatures, scarred landscape, or mortal conditions can all be crowstains. Several of these crownstains are present on Czerelan.   The continent of Czerelan is scarred by numerous crownstains. The Everstorm Fields are one such phenomena. A vast expanse of the Salic Highlands in northern Maluris is battered by the fury of thunderstorms that refuse to dissipate. Furious being conjured by lightning combat demons that leap from the ground.   Along the coastline of Oracesis, the land around the Ashflow River has been glassed to obsidian by the fury of an angry god. the Blasted Scorch is a small desert of obsidian glass. The ruins of civilization that used to exist there are burnt to oblivion, some villages and towns still have the shadows of people who used to live there. The ground is sharp, the resources are scarce, but the worst issue with The Blasted Scorch is the wind. Some storms that blow from the Sea of Eberus are powerful enough to pick up the obsidian sand. Some of the lands around the Blasted Scorch suffer at the hands of glass tornadoes.   In the frozen north of Veliky Farwind sits a small canyon of constantly rotting ruins. A crack in the soil and stone that holds the ancient ruins of Dwarf and Giant. It was cursed by The King of Rot to be in a status of rot and growth. Whether they chose for this to be a home of his corruption, or it was created purely on accident. It is in a constant state of regrowth that will rot away. It has become a noxious swamp that is home to scavengers and undead.
