Khýnýšic Expedition

The Khýnýšic Expedition was the third of the third of the Yarpalïŋ-Ýmïlýrhonid. Lasting from 3 Suta-Eimarae, 25026 AYM, to 17 Heta-Eimarae, 25025 AYM, it is the shortest of the five Expeditions, but was nonetheless extremely influential regarding the Abolishment of the Kavamïŋ-Ïlýrhonid and the transition of the Ïlýrhonid Tribe from its historically isolated culture to one more tolerant of the outside world and trade between those of different cultures.

Prelude

The Khýnýšic Expedition was a direct response to the Ïlýrhonid government's response to the earlier Wýðúric Expedition 3 months prior, which was a rousing success; in addition to serving as the first major exploration of the northern Amoŋot Desert, and founding the first city there in the form of Güðün, the reports and samples it brought back were extremely hopeful about the possibility of further settlement in the region. In particular, its purported death count of only 7 was a far cry from both the 800-900 casualty count of the Hayïdic Expedition and the supposed threat of the Zar-Isyer-Akwor, which was already seeming to lose credence due to the vehement emphasis in the Hayïdic Expedition's reports about the Desert being "Úmilaš kü Šýapar" (empty and unmoving).

For most of the populace, the Wýðúric Expedition's findings came as a shock; it finally proved, at least on paper, that survival in the outside world was not only possible but easy to achieve. In the months and even days following the Expedition's report, hundreds of individuals began flooding out of the Ïlýrhonid Tribe, such that the report of the Khýnýšic Expedition just three months later saw a total population of 4,000 outside the Tribe, even though the populations resulting from the first two Expeditions only summed up to be just over 1,000.

The Wýðúric Expedition's findings saw a barrage of different interpretations in the months between it and the start of the Khýnýšic Expedition. Again, most leaders dismissed it as being at least partially motivated by psychological effects of the Zar-Isyer-Akwor and labeled it as false. Others, especially those who wished to regain trust in the public, decided that the reports were true, but only because the Zar-Isyer-Akwor were concentrated towards the southern half of the Desert. Thus, the northern half was relatively safe, but this also meant that the Zar-Isyer-Akwor were extremely close to, if not adjacent to, the walls of the Ïlýrhonid Tribe. In panic, many of them began to commence what was called a Kavamïŋ-Hnúyo-Krašl, or threefold-holiday religion; the basis of this was that, since the Zar-Isyer-Akwor were so close to the Ïlýrhonid Tribe, the holidays, which typically featured rituals meant to deter or push back the Zar-Isyer-Akwor, would need to occur three times per year instead of once, which, by that logic, would push back the Zar-Isyer-Akwor to a greater extent.

Angered by this response from the Ïlýrhonidian leaders, Ikheðep, a participant in the Hayïdic Expedition and one of the principal organizers of the Wýðúric Expedition, arranged for a small group of volunteers, numbering ninety, to head out into the wilderness with him, in order to provide definitive proof that such results were indeed valid.
