Ceruleon
Making up the northern half of Curais, Ceruleon is a massive expanse of rolling hills and temperate coastlines. Numerous ports dot the coast, while the interior is dominated by trade routes and relatively small communities. While this makes the landscape unimpressive on it's own, the true riches of Ceruleon lies in it's multitude of ancient ruins.
Nearly half a millennia ago, a massive storm devastated the coastline of Ceruleon, forcing most of the existing population to flee. Following this Rage Cielmer, those who returned found a race of gnomish people who claimed that the entire region was now dotted with peculiar ruins filled with arcane technologies. When proven honest, these gnomes began to aid the natives in recovering these technologies and making them useful once again. In the centuries since then, the primary trade of Ceruleon has become the scavenging, selling, and reverse-engineering of arcanite technologies from these "Citan" ruins. Many of the larger port or trade cities exist to supply the scavenging teams and research the technologies recovered, making each a hot-bed for arcane research and development.
This area-specific control, combined with the fact that the de facto rulers of Ceruleon perished in le Rage Cielmer, has resulted in the region being governed by a number of trade organizations and guilds united in a loose union. Each one governs a particular section of the region, with a major city as the seat of their rule. This corporatocracy makes up about half of the Curasian Conclave, controlling most of the trade and business of the confederation as a whole. While many do not enjoy this system of governing, most of the the guilds attempt (at least outwardly) to govern fairly and ensure that those under their "rule" live happy and safe lives.
Geography
Ranging from the temperate coast along the Triton Sea to the foothills of the Monmagna Range with the vast Verdon Plains between them, Ceruleon is easily one of the larger regions of Ceren. While marked with a variety of ruins and small towns, the vast majority of Ceruleon is undeveloped frontier, teeming with unexplored areas and hidden secrets.
As for specifics, the majority of the population lives on the coast, in a number of port cities. The coast itself is very shallow and sandy for the most part, making it very suitable for the multitude of ports. The plains have your standard variety of wide-open expanses, rolling hills, and verdant grasslands. There are settlements, but they are for the most part little more than small trade stops on major routes, or staging grounds for the exploration of fallen sky-cities. The foothills are the most sparsely populated area, with the few settlements being based around the sky-cities that landed in the Monmagnas. In addition, the large Alentier Woods take up a large area of land in the foothills
Fauna & Flora
Beyond the standard creatures and plants that have inhabited the area for thousands of years, the entirety of Ceruleon is filled with flora and fauna that have been altered by the unstable magics coming from the Citan ruins. While this includes the basics of killing life or making areas uninhabitable, it also involves changing creatures to have magical properties. Many of these "Deviants" have since become constant sights in the area, with certain ones spreading to other areas. However, the ever-changing nature of this magic results in new varieties of deviants appearing every so often, often not by mistake.
Natural Resources
While by no means natural, the ungodly amount of arcanite and arcanite technology is the primary resource "harvested" and sold to other regions, therefore classifying it as a resource. Beyond this, the region has no major resources beyond those that could be found in any other region of similar geography and climate. This includes temperate plants and agriculture, basic mining and masonry, and plentiful amounts of livestock.
