History of the Temple of Elemental Evil
In the year 566 CY, forces of evil from Dyvers and across the Wild Coast were attracted to a plot of land near a small village called Nulb. The forces constructed a small chapel for worship which eventually grew to be a large temple. The evil forces were led by the demoness, Zuggtmoy. The forces of evil spread across the land and began terrorizing the area of Verbobonc, the Gnarley Forest, and the Kron Hills. By 569 CY, the Horde of Elemental Evil became such a threat that the Kingdom of Furyondy, Veluna, dwarves from the Lortmill Mountains, gnomes from the Kron Hills, and elven bowmen and spearmen fought back against the temple. The forces of good clashed with the forces of evil at the Emridy Meadows at the Northeast corner of the Kron Hills. The Horde of Elemental Evil sustained heavy loses and retreated back to the Temple. This victory was bought with many good lives including the former member of the Circle of Eight, Serten. The forces of good besieged the Temple for two weeks. During the siege, many adventurers entered the Temple and sealed the evil presence inside in hopes that the Temple would forever remain fractured and unable to regain their strength.Rumors of the Temple
After an Adventuring Guild arrived in Hommlet they immediately began hearing about the rise and fall of the Temple of Elemental Evil. In the search for a place to establish themselves they began clearing out bandits and monsters from the roads and the Moathouse. During their conquest of the Moathouse, the Guild heard more rumors about a possible resurgence of the Temple. When they killed the leader of the Moathouse they believed it was apparent that Lareth was working for the Temple, though he was a worshipper of Lolth.Investigating the Temple
Many excursions into the Temple have been made by the Guild. In their investigations they have discovered that bandits, gnolls, ghouls, and other creatures are claiming residence in the sealed Temple. The Guild has learned that there are at least four mini temples inside of the Temple; air, fire, water, and earth. An Adventuring Guild has taken out the two people in command of the earth Temple which has left the first level of the dungeons in turmoil. The Guild has a strong belief that the people in Nulb know that the Temple is regaining strength. They have heard rumors from Otis that the pirates that come into town supply slaves to the temple. These pirates might also have ties to the Slavers. After multiple adventures into the Temple, an Adventuring Guild has learned that the Temple is made up of four smaller Temple sects (Fire, Water, Earth, and Air), and one main temple sect (the Greater Temple). The smaller factions of the Temple have been constantly fighting to be the strongest faction of the Temple.Components
