Session #20: The Temple - Part 4 Report

General Summary

"This time through the ToEE, travel was easy, as though some omnipotent force desired for An Adventuring Guild to get to the Temple unmolested. We picked up Otis in Nulb, then went on to the ToEE. We started by cautiously investigating some rooms, first a small crypt of 11 stone coffins, each with a bronze ring with a triangle of black jet. Later, we discovered a room called The High Something of Augury (Brandon, please correct me) where Yllvetica discovered a pool with some sort of divining or divination stones and was able to perform an Augury. Several people asked questions, many of them received murky, if any, response.
We then withdrew to the Hall of Triangles and passed through a curtain to behold an earthen pyramid/ziggurat with a bronze case at its top. However, 4 earth elementals crawled up out of the ground to guard it when we entered. Ro'Haru found out the hard way that earth elementals can't be hit by non-magical means, but Ylvettica found out the harder way that earth elementals punch for 4d8 points of damage. He hid in a priests' dressing room. Blessedly, the elementals did not pursue, they simply maintained a defensive position around the pyramid. Yllvetica investigated the room, then called Nuwl over to help loot it.
Ro'Haru and Nuwl investigated another closet on the other side of the pyramid room, discovering a cache of flammable oil. They rolled two barrels out, just in time to hear Garret being addressed by some of the temple's occupants.
The druids tried very hard for a diplomatic solution and nearly got there, but provided an adequate distraction for Nuwl to gut the main speaker for the cultists. A messy battle ensues, all but one of the cultist commanders was slain, but not before our new Paladin Breylor was slain. Yllvetica successfully, if temporarily, restrained a berserking Banan, giving her enough cooldown to come to her senses. We returned to the Moathouse without incident."
