The Brightest Night

The winter solstice is the longest night of the year. The people of Odeus believe that it’s the time when Aeon wins a small margin of power, the balance between the battling ancients swaying ever so slightly with the change of seasons. To lend strength to Deon, people ignite every light available to them and make additional bonfires in order to help drive the darkness away, and they have been successful ever since.

Durnas/Agad

This day of the year, despite the cold temperatures, the night is filled with people celebrating in the streets with food and drink, huddled around a multitude of smaller fires to keep them warm and awake. The celebrations last from sunset to sunrise. Despite it being a rather religious holiday, even the more naturalistic Durnali happily join the festivities.

Durnfall (City)

The peaceful people of the elven capital spend the day in prayer, together with their families or within temples. The Brightest Night for them is the day of the year to confess any secrets and make good on unfulfilled promises, as the inherent corruption in these deeds is believed to take root at the peak of Aeon's might.

Ponthas

Not too different from the Durnali traditions, the people of Ponthas spend the night in celebration, albeit much more civilised and collected in their demeanour. The highlight of every year's celebration is a contest of illusionary magic in which the most talented students of the Blue Citadel display their knowledge in the form of large wonderful beasts and sprays of colors that brighten up the night sky.

The Frozen Wastes

Recollections of an explorer from Ponthas tell about a strange people with slate white skin living deep within the glaciers of the western continent. The wandering scholar got stranded in the ice during the dark winter months and was lured to a cavern in the eternal ice by strange glowing lights. His diary tells about thousands of little magical crystals embedded in the ice, giving the interior the look of distant stars. He soon encountered a village within the glacier, buildings carved into the thick ice. According to his report the denizens of this cave did not seem to fear the darkness.

This seems like a great diving-off point into some of your other lore. I think the line 'people ignite every light available to them and make additional bonfires in order to help drive the darkness away, and they have been successful ever since.' does a great job summarizing the holiday.
