The Knights Magi are the top magical unit in Octiragrin. They are formed from the best battle mages in the kingdom. Until recently, there have been but a few mages that ftr this qualification. Therefore, the core was rarely ever together. Each regular unit of knights throughout the kingdom had two or three Knights Magi in their units. Now that Infant Magic Syndrome has been almost completely eradicated there are more battle mages available and an elite force has been created of only battle mages.
The Knights Magi are the Queen's quick reaction unit to go wherever the need is greatest. At this time, there is only one unit of Knights Magi, but in future there are plans to form a unit for each Barony and Border Warden and perhaps for certain cities.
These elite troops are very dangerous and highly mobile. They can move throughout the kingdom or around a battle fields almost instantaneously. They are nearly unstoppable and the biggest reason that Octiragrin has not been at war in over 50 years.

Battle Mages train with many martial weapons as well as magical weapons. Most mages carry a staff and / or a wand to focus their magic. There are rare exceptions who use other focusing devices. Weapons may include, but are not limited to:

The Mage Commander is the top rank of the Knights Magi. At the central posting in Tirfalon, there are five Sergent Mages over each 10 knights. At each baronial or border posting there is a Sergent Mage over that troop (2 to 3 knights).
Work as a team to support the regular knights and overwhelm the enemy.
To become a Knight Magus, a candidate must complete a course of study to be certified as a Battle Mage at Octischolarus Magus. Once the mages is certified, he / she must show martial master through a series of combats against a panel of elite knights as well as showing excellence in battle magic through a series of tests created by the Mage Commander and Sergent Mages
Logistics
Each Knight Magus carries his/her own equipment. If necessary on prolonged missions a squad can be sent for supplies. No contiguous supply lines are necessary.
Each mage must keep his / her own gear in good condition. New supplies may be drawn from the Quartmaster in Tirfalon.
Knights Magi are recruited out of the best graduates of Octischolarus Magus.
History
Soon after the beginning of her reign,
Queen Gwenaria Silverstave formed the Knights Magi to protect
Octiragrin. She felt the need for a fast-reaction force to deter other countries from attacking Octiragrin's borders and settlements.
