Fall of the Kingdom of Ocrea

It was also said that the old kings devalued a band of powerful mages all the way to the point they used all their magic to destroy the entire kingdom in the form of tidal waves, earthquakes and volcanic eruptions, scattering the survivors as a result. The Fall of the Kingdom of Ocrea, or simply The Fall, is a cataclysmic event that took place hundreds of years before the First War of Southern Ocrea, where the Old Kingdom was systematically destroyed by powerful mages that turned most of North Ocrea into an almost barren wasteland, save for a few geographic landscapes that were rebuilt by Northern Ocreans. The ruins of the Kingdom became revered sites for adventure seekers and explorers.

Summary

In Ocrean historical documents, there existed the Kingdom of Ocrea, a united realm of every human Ocrean situated in the north of Ocrea, which was said to be the grand pinnacle of Ocrean society that cultivated a Golden Age of riches and culture. The age came to an end when the ruler of the Kingdom made the grave mistake of angering a band of powerful mages in his realm that resulted in The Fall. The entire Kingdom was then struck with many natural disasters brought up by powerful magic that laid waste to every single city of the Old Kingdom, leaving the survivors stranded and every building turned to ruins. Many survivors chose to immigrate to the untouched South Ocrea while a few others decided to try and rebuild the Old Kingdom from the destruction.

Historical Basis

Unlike the Conveyance of Ocrea, The Fall is an event that is known widely throughout the continent by the thousands of ruins that lay waste in North Ocrea. The people that have decided to remain in the North have managed to rebuild a number of the cities that were destroyed, but the lack of a strong government leadership and resources to increase their wealth resulted in most turning to piracy in order to gain fame and wealth back in their home city, which was only put to an halt when Spanish ships, namely the Conquista, managed to destroy a vast amount of North Ocrean pirate fleets in years 1530-1580 with their cannons, forcing the North to find a way to counter these new ships.
