Requisition Order

Purpose

A requisition order is a standard form by which garrison commanders of the Rarus Border Garrisons request materials, equipment and troops from the Elven Kingdom to be made available for service at the designated garrison. It also contains a report detailing the situation at the garrison as a way of justifying the deployment of the troops or equipment to that garrison.

Document Structure

Legal status

While a requisition might be an order from the military to send supplies or troops from one location to another, it is traditionally phrased as a request for the Crown to authorize the transfer. The King once personally received the requisition and issued the order to answer the request or deny it, but denial was so rare that over time, the requisitions were carried out long before the King saw it. The King still makes the formality of signing requisitions and sending them to by filed, but it is now considered little more than secretarial paperwork.

Historical Details

Background

The standardization of these reports marked the normalization of the wartime state at the Rarus border, and by extension, the Elven culture. Many generations grew up knowing that a war had been raging off and on since before they were born.

History

Requisition orders originated as reports sent from deployed troops in the Rarus Border Skirmishes back to the Elven Kingdom. Many times, the report would detail a request for assistance and over time such requests were put to a standard form to expedite the process of moving necessary troops and materials to garrisons in urgent need of them. Upon his promotion to garrison commander of one of the Rarus Border Garrisons, Andareal Silverheart became notorious for his long-winded Requisition Orders, detailing at length his troops' progress in training and overall readiness.
