Oathbound
Year 5450 of the Vigil
It began with a choice. Or rather the idea of choice. The Elder Races were brought into existence to form the foundations of the world. They were each bound to their tasks by the Lord of Light; the Watchers, the Builders and the Guardians.
The Dragons were the Watchers of Creation, who stood by to bear witness to the worlds as they were created and to observe their progress as the Child Races grew within them. They lived in the worlds and traveled through them, but stood apart from the business of all other races.
The Templar, the Heartstone of the Worlds, forged from their own essence the very worlds upon which life would rise. They oversaw and continued to maintain the connections between the worlds surreptitiously, indifferent to the events that transpire among the other races.
Lasili, the Elves, were the Guardians of Life, and their charges were the Child Races themselves. Their task was to uphold and protect the freedom of the Child Races to choose their path. But life itself is Order formed out of Chaos and the forces of Chaos are not content to follow the Light's plans.
