Kingdom of Athalar
Beyond the western shores of Nov Matar lay the mysterious Isles of Athalar. And since they were conquered by Omrin Tanderis they were consolidated into a single kingdom of the same name.
Structure
Athalar is (or was during its height) a feudal monarchy. The king has feudal arrangements with a series of vassals who in turn had similar arrangements with vassals of his own. Of course, in the time of the strong kings, all Athalene nobles swore fealty to the king in addition to an overlord such that the king had absolute authority in times of crisis. Currently the kingdom is being re-consolidated by Arengal Soga, and he doesn't yet have the authority to demand fealty from all landed nobles.
Public Agenda
Arengal's public agenda is to reunite the Isles under one banner once again for the peace and prosperity of all.
Assets
The Kingdom of Athalar is an old nation but much diminished from fifty years of war. Nevertheless the king of Athalar has access to armies, a navy, a bevy of towns and castles, the capital of Athandar, etc.
History
Athalar is a kingdom in flux and has a checkered past.
The nation began after Omrin led his rag-tag army from his homeland in Kalis
Demography and Population
The Kingdom of Athalar consists mainly of Lorian folk from Kalis. In the early days of the kingdom a conclave of Gray Giants and a tribe of Green Dwarves immigrated to the kingdom and maintain small populations. Later, Volgans comquered part of the Kingdom's lands creating their own nation and their offspring are most of the remainder of the population. Athalar has a very small population of Corsairblood folk.
Religion
Most Athalene folk worship the Archenlord though there are a few small conclaves of pagans here and there which worship the spirits of local geography. In addition there is a growing religion called the Brotherhood of Sindar which secretly worship Dargon.
Foreign Relations
Athalar once had good relations with its neighbors but time and weakness have soured these.
