Duchy of Girinak
The Duchy of Girinak is a powerful feudal state in Athalar, Isles of. Founded by the hero Kolandor Girinak, who was granted a large tract of land in the western lands of Athalar Major.
Structure
House Girinak is feudal in nature. It's lord (a duke) receives oaths of fealty from lesser lords in exchange for lands and titles. The duke keeps a lord's council, but these men do not hold but social influence over the duke. He has the last say. The House would also be sworn to the King of Kingdom of Athalar but House Girinak has not bowed the knee to a king in over fifty years.

House Girinak is interested in keeping their lands peaceful, publicly.
Assets
Duchy of Girinak has claim to a large portion of Athalar Major, stretching west to its capital, Beth Girinak, nort to Horus Cassitar, south to Horusdir, and east to Mysrondel. They have plenty of farmland, a sizeable forest of hardwood trees and defensible land surrounded by mountains. They can mount an army of some thousands and liquid assets of some tens of thousands of Yireh.
History
Kolandor Girinak was one of Omrin's most trusted advisor, and his war councilor on top of that. He was well known for his fearlessness in battle and bold strategies as well as for the artifact that gave him his name: the Golden Axe, a weapon devised of True Gold with various magical abilities. Upon taking Athalar, Omrin gave Kolandor control over a sizable duchy which has withstood the test of time.

House Girinak has a powerful military. Their towns have well-trained guards and they can call up an army of some thousands.

House Girinak is enemies with King Arengal though they haven't outwardly made any notions towards pushing the borders.
