Hilston Ironworks

The Hilston Iron Works is a business on the eastern edge of town that has several large bloomeries used to smelt Iron ore taken from the Bog east of the City.  The Bog Iron is not as pure as mined iron, but there is an abundance in the swamp.   The Bloomery is run by by two Ifrits brothers.  Living on the edge of town is not only good for the fumes, but also for the brothers who would stand out anywhere in the city.

Purpose / Function

The Iron works turns the Bog iron brought in form the swamps into usable ingot for the blacksmith and other crafters.

History

Amu and Aqa, Ifrit brothers originally form Incara settled in Hilston in 861 but never felt like they fit into the city, considering their heritage.  The people would stare and some wouldn't sell to them despite the generally accepting nature of Hilston.  When the traders council heard about they offered them an opportunity.  The Ironworks at the time was owned by the city, but had trouble keeping workers because of the condition needed to produce the smelted iron from the bog iron ore.  They told the brothers if they were willing to work the iron works, they could eventually buy it.  The brothers agreed and in ten years had earned enough to pay the city for full ownership of the buildings and bloomery.  Now they work for themselves grateful to the traders for their prosperity.
