Hilston Crafter's District

The Crafters District of Hilston can be found in the eastern part of the city.  Here is where most of the workshops  are that supply the marketplace and the shops throughout the city.  Many of the crafters live and work in the same place, except for a few whose workshops are not quite suitable places to live.  Many of the people who work here also have storefronts, especially those who do only commissioned work.  Others have arrangements shop keepers or bring their wares to the market to sell.  
The Council has strict rules on who can sell what and where.  They pay attention to the market and place limits on how many of each type of crater can operate in the city, in order to keep prices at a good level, that can support the crafter and the taxes.  They also decide provide permits for shops and stalls, which are limited as well.  If a crafter is denied a permit, he must sell thought a local factor or shopkeeper.
Each of the streets is named for the types of crafter that live there.  Jewler's Lane, scribes way, Hammers Street, Etc.  As you travel closer to the wall, you will find the lower craftsmen, whose work is loud or smells.  
You will also find Warehouse Way in the Crafter's district.  Here are the warehouses that traders store raw materials that the sell to the crafters.  At one time most of the warehouses were towards the docks, but many traders moved here to be able to supply there customers faster.

Demographics

The Crafters District is mostly middle class with some of the lower class crafters as well. The racial breakdown is about average for the city in general.

Defences

The City guard patrols the Crafter's district, thought not as heavily as the market or civil district.

Tourism

The crafter's district is doesn't have any cultural significance, expect that is is a community of crafters.  While some of the people who work here may draw visitor to see their specific wares, the district itself is not a big draw for visitors.

Architecture

The building of the Crafter's District are as varied as the types of crafts made here.  They are built in many different styles to suit the needs of the crafter.  Some are all stone where there might be fire dangers, some have large open areas for ventilation.  Some are buitl very secure as the wares are valuable.  
The street is well maintained though not as spotless as the civil district.
