Elder Chen

Elder Chen is an Ilikios who used to be part of Elder Estevan's Order of the Elders. He used to be part of the Advisors, alongside Elder Hessa, and advised Elder Estevan on how to train people.

Because he is an Ilikia, Elder Chen has the power of Gnosis. He also has Chronokinesis, Umbrakinesis and Thermokinesis.

Personal history

After Estevan took over as the Senior of the Order in the 1980s, he sought out his longtime friend, Elder Chen, for help. At the time, Chen still agreed with their plan to train people to not make mistakes. However, he was the one that told Estevan that their original plan wasn't possible, so they changed it as soon as Estevan became the leader. This sudden change in goal jarred many members of the Order, and many they left once they realised Estevan wasn't going to listen to their worries. Elder Chen didn't approve of what his friend was doing, but initially kept silent.
Once the Order got smaller, Estevan started exercising control over everyone who stayed. His advisors essentially became his yes-men, for fear of being excommunicated. Elder Chen and Elder Hessa were both made Advisors, and they advised him on how to recruit students to train and use. Chen also trained his own students to make as few mistakes as possible, using tactics like punishments and verbal abuse.
By the time it was 2015, Elder Estevan was planning on expanding his plans to humans. Elder Chen had already planned on leaving, growing disillusioned with the Order and the pain they had caused to others. However, that was the last straw. Although Estevan made him swear an oath of silence, Chen decided to expose the scheme, by telling his daughter and nephew about it. Then, he became the Syndicate's employer, and began leaking information about the Order to the media.

Employment

Elder Chen is a qualified trainer and teaches his students martial arts. When he was still part of the Order, he was known to push his students quite hard. Once he left, he changed his teaching methods and trains them in self-defence instead.
In recent years, he became an employer for the Assassin's Syndicate. He hires them to find kill anyone associated with the Order, including the people in the Global Pallorin who lend the Order their services.
Although Elder Estevan keeps a close eye on him, he doesn't know that Chen is legally obliged to give information about the Elders to the authorities. So Elder Chen releases snippets of information to the journalist Obadiah Xenakis, so that he doesn't put himself in danger.

Elder Chen has a daughter named Skylar, and a nephew that he takes under his wing. He also has a wife, but Chen has made sure to keep her away from the Order.
