Ilikios

Ilikia, commonly known as the Elders, are an ethnic group of people from Shardile. They are powerful humanides who live a life of royalty and luxury. While they are not the only sentient beings on Shardile, they are the only humanides on the planet, and other human-like species are called by different names. Known to live for centuries, the Ilikia ruled over their country on Shardile peacefully, until Shardile started losing resources. The other sentient species then forced the Ilikia to look for resources elsewhere.

Naming Traditions

Family names

All surnames have a mix of hard and soft phonics that give each name a unique, regal tone. They are patronymic by nature and are passed down to each child. When people get married, they don't change their surnames to match the name of their significant other. Instead, people join both their surnames together to form a double-barrelled surname.

Other names

Although this is more of a title, the Ilikia also call each other "Elders" after they become of age. They are gifted this title in a ceremony that they can then use freely if they wish.

Culture

Common Dress code

Ilikia tend to dress in large, flowy clothes that are light in colour. Their clothes are lined in expensive silks and coloured in gold.

Coming of Age Rites

An Ilikios typically comes of age at around 30 (equivalent to about 15 on Earth), where they are at the peak of adolescence.

Relationship Ideals

Because the Ilikia tend to live long lives, they prefer to find people with who they can have a lasting relationship. The Ilikia have long, deep relationships with others, with many only having one partner for their whole lives. This is one part of life that they take very seriously.
