Detective of the Inquisition

The Detectives of the Inquisition for Global Humanoid Affairs (a.k.a Inquisitors) are a group of Pallorin agents that work under Pallorin Departments and report directly to the Humanoid Secretary.
  Their job is primarily to aid the Pallorin with their policies by learning how their policies affect the general population. They ask questions and learn more about the people they've been assigned to. Inquisitors integrate into cities, towns, villages or districts to gather information about the local population. The information can include voting habits, concerns, troubles, and more. They prioritise humanoids, but sometimes they consider opinions from humans, too.
  While most think it is a daunting task, Inquisitors soon find it a very rewarding experience that they sometimes find hard to leave.

Qualifications

To be considered for the rank of an Inquisitor, people need a Master's degree in Politics or Humanities (e.g. Geography or History). They also should have served in the Pallorin for at least two years in order to understand how the government works. This forms part of their training. Some Inquisitors also have a background in Economics or Business, and the Pallorin accept them too.   Apart from working in the Pallorin, there is no extra training required because the Pallorin will provide that training upon becoming an Inquisitor.

Requirements

The person must be a Shadowhunter and have served in the Pallorin for at least two years prior to being voted. This is partly because they will be runed upon becoming an Inquisitor, and many runes aren't compatible with other nations of Quadrilore. Although being a Shadowhunter is key, the Pallorin have accepted multiple humanoids that aren't Shadowhunters or are part of multiple cultures. There have also been cases where half-humanoids have been allowed to become Inquisitors since the Pallorin Code isn't as strict on Inquisitors. However, humans aren't allowed to become Inquisitors due to the fact that the Pallorin is mainly for humanoids, rather than humans.

Appointment

After an Inquisitor is chosen, they then have to participate in a ceremony that raises them to be an Inquisitor. While this includes marking the person with specific runes to symbolise their new role, the ceremony can be slightly catered towards their culture. Shadowhunter runes don't always work on non-Shadows, so special runes can also be created, and these special runes have become the norm across the globe.

Duties

Inquisitors need to earn the trust of humans and humanoids since they are the voice of the people. They are also part of a team of other Inquisitors that have different abilities. This means they need to take care of their team and make sure everyone is comfortable with their team goals. They need to look after the mental and physical health of everyone and make sure that they don't impose any form of superiority onto others, which is why they have a team solely consisting of other Inquisitors.

Responsibilities

Inquisitors must report back to the Pallorin when they learn more information about the people they have been sent to observe. Depending on their chosen fields, this can include the state of the economy, current government policies, people's voting habits and more.

Benefits

Inquisitors have access to a deeper knowledge of humans and humanoids. They earn a lot more and they have the ability to suggest ideas to the Pallorin and take part in their decision-making. Since most people decide to skip being Inquisitors, the ones that choose this way are considered more trustworthy, as they are out and about in cities, towns, and villages.   They also have the privilege of travelling around the world. While it may seem like they are only stationed in one area, in actuality, they can travel anywhere they want, provided their reason relates to their job. This means that Inquisitors learn more about the world than other people in the Pallorin, and are more inclined to help humanoids by giving their voices to the Pallorin.   Inquisitors also earn an average of around £40,000 a year, which is a good salary. However, they can only use their salary in Galilea if they have another job alongside working in the Pallorin. While most have two jobs, they gladly help the Galilean economy by using goods and services.

Accoutrements & Equipment

Inquisitors don't have a dress code, but they have developed their own mini-culture which means they can wear hooded cloaks of any colour. If they need to fight people, they tend not to wear cloaks unless they know how to use them to their advantage. They typically wear fighting gear underneath their cloaks, but also can dress formally or informally, depending on their goals.   Inquisitors also carry weapons in case they need to fight. Unless they specialise in a specific weapon, the Pallorin gives them weapons that stun opponents, but don't kill them.

Grounds for Removal/Dismissal

Inquisitors can have their title removed if they do not follow the Pallorin Code while in service. Whether the Code is fair or not doesn't necessarily matter. Since the Code is more lenient with them, there isn't much reason for them to break protocol.

History

When the Pallorin first created the rank of Inquisitor, in 1960, they wanted Inquisitors to learn more about humanoids so that they could cater their policies accordingly. Inquisitors during this time were much more affiliated with the Pallorin than other ranks in the government. While they weren't originally called Inquisitors, the core of their jobs was the same. However, humanoids protested against this and the idea was scrapped.   After many of the corrupt Pallorin members left the government during the Shadow Reform era, the idea was revived and altered in order to reflect the Pallorin's new policies. The Inquisitors were created with the same cores as the old ones, but they were not as close to the Pallorin as others. Instead, they were created to be the voice of the humanoids, listening and reporting straight back. While they aren't as close to the Pallorin as they were before, they are some of the most important ranks in Pallorin history, as they bridge the gap between humans, humanoids and the government. They also got much more choice in where they could go and there was no dress code. This ended up meaning that the Inquisitors were essentially their own small culture by the time 2002 rolled out.

Cultural Significance

Inquisitors are mainly the voice of reason, as opposed to the political voice of the Pallorin. They are meant to bridge the gap between the Pallorin and humanoids. This makes them very popular among the population. Inquisitors are more likely to be welcomed warmly into a country than any other Pallorin rank, even if the place doesn't trust the Pallorin.
