Ciones
Ciones is one of thirteen regions in the continent of Veilra. Its capital is Borage.
Geography
Ciones was widely acknowledged as the most beautiful providence in Veilra before the ruination it suffered during the War of Three Flames. It was a temperate land full of streams and fields well-suited for agriculture. Hundreds of species of wildflower bloomed across the region, perfuming the air.
Fauna & Flora
Notable native flora and fauna include...
Crimson Topaz, a species of large, territorial hummingbird. The males sport bright red feathers and a lime-green throat, and the females wear coppery-greens. This species is often seen speeding through fields of wildflowers in competition for nectar with drumblebees. Drumblebee, sparrow-sized insects with fuzzy golden abdomens. They fly very slowly through the air and their low-pitched buzzing has a vaguley magical effect that can put a man to sleep if they listen to it for too long. Farmers who keep the species in apiaries must be cautious to keep their ears plugged with cotton lest they fall asleep while tending to the creatures. Drumblebee honey is prized for its medicinal uses especially as a sedative.

History
Ciones was the location of the interplanar portal between Nohl and Silfar that appeared at the Second Breaching and was later the site of the portal that brought the Hellish Forces to Nohl and ignited the War of Three Flames. The region served as the primary battlefield during that conflict and to this day remains largely in a state of ruin. The surviving citizens of Ciones found temporary homes in surrounding regions, and most have expressed little intention of returning to their destroyed and spoiled homeland.
