The Borderlands of Dwarfheim

The Borderlands lay to the south of the mountains beyond which lay Dwarfheim. It act as a buffer region between dwarfheim and the human realm of Breaking Dawn. To the south lay northern Renoland and to the west the large forest.
Southpass is the capital of the borderlands, where the thane reside. Half a day or so north lay Dun Khar. On the southern side of Southpass lay the Borderlands, divided into the 'Near Borderlands' (or Near-lands, between Southpass and Eberek Hovel, and the 'Far Borderlands' (or Far-lands)between Eberek Hovel and Golden Dwarf'.
In the 'Near Borderlands', to the east, by the great river, lay the settlements of Dwindle Harbor and to the south Eberek Hovel. Much of the 'Near Borderland' is made up by hills, and mountains between the great evergreen forest to the west and the great river to the east, making up alomost 120 square miles. South of the crossroads is 'the Eberek Highlands', a five mile wide stretch where the roadlead ten miles to Eberek Hovel. To the road South of the Dwindle road, and east of the Eberek Highlands lay 'the mirk mist marshes', a swamp-land, some four miles across, enclosed by ridges, where few venture.
In the 'Far Bordelands' another 20 miles south of Eberek hovel lay the border. Along the border lay several homesteads keeping watch and holding the line, with the Golden Dwarf Inn as a strongpoint. Along the different roads, as well as along the border lay homesteads about a mile apart from each other. The homesteads usually have a family or two, or an extended family, tending the land, making up around 5-10 dwarves at each homestead. Around half the way between Eberek Hovel and the Golden Dwarf inn is the 10 mile or long road west to Milton keys.

Through out the Borderlands are dwarven homesteads, and some human lodges, scatter around the hills. All in all there are about 6000 dwarves living in Southpass, with around an additional 6000 spread out in settlements and homesteads around countryside. According to census records at the end of 157 there are some 3000 humans registered as settled within the borders dispersed around different homesteads, villages and hamlets. Mostly the humans are employed directly by dwarves handling services and labor that the dwarves find less interesting. Around two-thirds of all dwarves and humans live in the 'Near Borderlands' with the rest reside in the 'Far Borderland'. As such there live, on average 10 dwarves and 5 humans per square mile in the Near parts while there live around 5 dwarves and 2,5 humans per square mile in the Far parts.

The 'Near Borderlands' are more settled than that of the wilds of the 'Far Borderlands'.

In the 'Far Borderlands' around a quarter of the dwarven population liv settled in homesteads along the main roads and along the border. Half-way along the 'Far Borderland road' lay O'deer market , at the crossroad to the human settlement of Milton Keys. There are several other homesteads and more or less fixed camp sites along with some few settlements through out the wilds where dwarves and humans dwell. Around 400-500 humans work along the dwarven homesteads laying along the roads, with 200 or so in or within an hours walk from Milton Keys.

Along the river in the East run a stone-laid trail south to the human lands, of ancient dwarven origin.

To the south, in the southern lands, are some dwarven property still. As the mines and some farmland in and around Layers, though these fall within the domain and rule of the humans since the goblin wars.
