Tree Guards

Never try to enter Tsugeti unnounced, we learned that the hard way. Luckily we had one Nekorian in our group, otherwise we could have been leveled by the Tree Guards in a second. Not only did we not see them or hear them, they were also incredibly fast. We had only just entered the settlement and a few moments later I had a blade to my throat.

The Tree Guards are the elite Nekorian soldiers tasked with protecting the capital Tsugeti and most importantly the main temple. They consist of the most athletic Nekorians of the Mizarin Isles and are trained for a long time.

Selection

The only Nekorians who are considered to join the guard are the winners of the Skyviewing festival. Many competitions are held during this festival of which the winners are given the options to start training to join the guard. The last competition winner is, however, considered to be the best possible candidate.
Those that want to join the Tree Guards start their training shortly after the event.

Training

Training to become one of the elite Tree Guards is not an easy task. The Nekorians that undergo the training does not only include training with weapons. They also need to be able to move fast and silently through the Mizarin Jungle. To train this aspect the candidates need to try to sneak up on the instructor without being noticed.
Not all candidates live up to the standards of the instructors and it can happen that in a year only a few new members joing the guards.

Weapons

The main weapon of the Tree Guards is a polearm with blades at two sides. After training the Tree Guards are able to use this weapon fast and efficiently. Other weapons that they use include small throwing knives. Sometimes they also use ranged weapons.

Tasks

The main task of the Tree Guards is protecting the temples and its priests in Tsugeti. Since all of these temples are located inside large Mizarin Nightlights they received the name 'Tree' Guards over time.
The most important person the Tree Guards need to protect is the Mother's Chosen. As the leader of the Nekorian community in the Mizarin Isles, the Mother's Chosen needs strong soldiers as guards.
