Elf Species in Nilam | World Anvil

Elf

The original Elves are a rarity today. Once having an empire that spanned all of Kalin the Elves have now been split and changed after the fall of their empire and a full age of decline. The most notable offshoots of the original Elven (or Torvish as they call themselves) race are the High Elves (Torva'Shal), Wood Elves (Torva'Wea), Drow (Torva'Dro), and Wild Elves (Torva'Wio) ; though others are rumored to exist in shadow and the unknown parts of the world.   So called “Pure-Elves” or “True Elves" still exist, notably in Nozomu (though many do not consider them true elves). But it is truly rare to find one outside of Nozomu.   True Elves originally came from the Torva’Ne (Elven Homeland) and its forests in Eastern Kalin, though some seem to exist in Palnoré. They are known for their nimble agility and keen minds. They are also extremely long lived, with true elves never dying to old age.

Additional Information

Geographic Origin and Distribution

In Kalin

"True Elves" are mostly found in Nozomu (formerly Ithalin) since the fall of the Torva'Ir in the late First Age. Their already small numbers have been dwindling since the fall of their empire, and the Fall of Ithalin sped the process even more. If a "True Elf" is found outside of Nozomu they are almost certainly a hermit or live in isolation, probably being nearly 2000 years or older by now.

In Efaanu

It is unknown for sure, but assumed, that the Elves of Palnoré are the same, or close enough to be the same, as the Torvish Elves. If this is the case, nearly all Elves in Efaanu hail from and live in Palnoré. Though some, especially The White Owls may travel from the island to explore or quest. One such White Owl, named Ruvan, is somewhat famous for doing so in the Second Age of Kalin.

In Wahar

It is known that during the height of the Torva'Ir that Sullia sent colonists to the west to expand the empire. The exact fate of these colonies are unknown, though they are said to still exist during the Second Age. It is said by travelers that some form of these colonies may still exist in the form of something called "Torva'Reph" but it is unknown if this is true or a story.

In Archin

It is not thought that Elves exist in Archin natively. If any are present, they are travelers or transplants.
