The Most Hated Nation on Nideon

Linakra is located on the east coast of the Major Continent. It is one of the oldest nations in Nideon, as well as one of the most feared and secretive. Due to its institutional fear of magic, Linakra is the most technologically advanced of all nations on Nideon.

Magical Relations

Linakra is known throughout Nideon for its harsh views on magic. While some Linakran political leaders have suggested that magic can be useful, as a whole is believe to be a corrupting force, and national problems are often attributed to magic. This is further emphasized by the state religion. Historically, wizards and others who used magic in Linakra had to wear red cloaks to mark them to others. Children attended special schools for the magical in order to re-inforce the lesson of magic being harmful as well as to keep a close eye on those who might be problematic to the Linakran regime. Many tried to flee to Nefrale, where their magic would be supported. In 1227, the red cloaks were phased out when the Linakran government realized that they had become popular wear in Nefrale, which used it as way to mock the nation, and new ways of identifying wizards were put in place. Currently, wizards are required to carry identification documents with them at all times, and many wizards have been known to disappear. As a result of its policies on magic, Linakra has a poor relationship with many of the other countries on Nideon, but manages to retain its hold on its borders through its superior technology and strict governmental policies meant to fill its citizens with national pride and instill fear in those who would oppose the nation.

Progressive Policies

Despite its stance on magic, Linakra has long held progressive policies in other regards. Not only is gender equality upheld in all areas of Linakra, but transgender and gender non-binary people are openly recognized and respected. Homosexuality and polyamory are also both acceptable in the nation, and certain technological companies have dedicated themselves to creating technology to improve life for those who suffer from physical and mental handicaps. These policies allowed them to build good relationships with Pelan refugees, who upheld many of the same ideals, though many of them later left the country due to the nation's stance on magic. Though the Pelan are most known for their connections with Linakra, leading to many rumors about their own treatment of people with magic, throughout history, other groups have fled to Linakra seeking safety from various forms of prejudice.

Agriculture and Trade

Linakra sometimes maintains tentative trade with other countries, especially when it, or the others are in need. Linakra has the benefit of advanced technology, which it can use as a bargaining chip, but also has a large agricultural center which allows to be relatively self-sustaining.
