Lamel Beleed

Lamel Beleed was born in 1953 in Illegate, Ethion to Lysi and Andlo Baleed. At eight years old, he was one of several children who escaped the destruction of Rose Temple with the help of Lishald Fandel, who took the children on a train to Mevi, and finally on a boat to Brek. Once in Brek, Lamel was adopted by a bilingual couple, alongside another boy from Illegate, Havihal. The two of them were enrolled in school, where they are now learning Mermish. Though his new home has a very small number of Pelan residents and no Epaluno temple, his foster parents ensured that he received his proper coming of age rights, including receiving his ibi'an.   Once in Brek, Lamel was given a letter that had originally been intended for his brother, Matsias, who left before joining the other children on the train in the hope of rescuing the adults from the burning temple. Lamel refuses to open the letter because he insists that he will one day see his brother again.   Lamel now attends Murk Middle School, where he is in 4th grade. He has received top marks in his Mermish language class, and his teacher says he excels at language acquisition, but his favorite subject is reading. Though Lamel currently only reads in Zhohu, he looks forward to learning how to read in Mermish and he practices most nights with Havihal. Lamel also continues to visit the other children who escaped with him to Brek, though most of them live in a different city. Somewhat stand-offish, he struggles to make friends, though he relishes the opportunity to try new things and since re-settling has fallen in love with skating and sailing.
