Atlinthaian National Council
The Atlinthaian National Council is the legislative body of Atlinthaia. It is composed of representatives of the Nine Ruling Families.
The National Council is based on the Circle of Seven, the ruling body of matriarchs that governed the Atlinthaian colony. After getting independence from Brek, the Circle renamed themselves, declaring that each of the ruling families would send one representative to serve on the council and designate one to run the council of the district for which the family was responsible. The members of the council elect the Atlinthaian Monarch from amongst themselves. As the country expanded, the council also expanded to include two more seats.
After the Southern Conflict, the council declared it could call a second, advisory body, chosen from among the people by democratic lottery. Since the The Southern Fever, this advisory body has been called annually, and the function unofficially as a bi-cameral legislature. There is growing support to make it official.
