The Four Legendary Weapons

When Urthemiel, the Destroyer was sealed away, the gods feared that one day the beast would manage to free itself. Once the Destroyer's seal began weakening due to the primordials' waning magic, Urthemiel's freedom became a question of "when" rather than "if". As a precaution to protect themselves and their prized mortals, the many conflicting gods temporarily set aside their differences to create weapons that could stand against the Destroyer. Perhaps not at Urthemiel's full power, but at least in its weakened state. At least an opportunity, however small, to give the people of Nexus a fighting chance.

Chōmei, the Sword of Chigiri

The sword Chōmei was the 1st of the Four brought into the modern world. In ancient time, triton smiths were entrusted with the task of forming a blade up to the task of destroying the Destroyer. They went through 7 prototypes before a new idea struck them: to combine the prototypes into a single, perfect blade. Sadly, they were unable to ever find the means to do so. Over time, the prototypes were used by the people of their village and became lost, scattered across the land.   Centuries later, the triton Chigiri found himself engrossed with stories of the 7 Swords throughout his childhood. This obsession extended into adulthood and he made it his life's mission to find the 7 Swords. To that end, he traveled to Lothal and joined the Adventurer's Guild. After running into his cousin Kiri, he joined the Headhunters and assisted them with their quests while keeping his eyes and ears open for clues surrounding the 7 Swords.   He managed to find several of them when his quest suddenly became the group's top priority. Fellow Headhunter Hugh Morris learned from his guardian angel, Polaris, that the 7 Swords were the key to stopping Mesogog & Levira. They did not realize until much later this was due to Lady Kemlar's manipulations. She traded Chigiri one of the 7 Swords and told him where to find another, while at the same time empowering Mesogog & Levira with a piece of the Destroyer's power to make them vulnerable to the Four.   After collecting the last sword, Iskierka learned what the Headhunters had been up to and urged them to follow her. She led them to the Dragon Forge, one of the few places where the 7 Swords could be combined into one. But Mesogog had learned of their quest and arrived to stop them. Iskierka stayed behind, revealing herself to be the gold dragon Shimmerscale, to stall the son of Orcus and his minions while the Headhunters entered the forge.   It was not an easy task; Nadira had slipped by the party and released one of Levira's Void Beasts in the forge while Mesogog kept them talking. But Chigiri managed to forge the sword despite the monster's interference, bringing it to life with an incantation, "For the doom of the Destroyer, Chōmei is mine to command!" He used the blade to strike down the Void Beast and the Headhunters managed to distract Mesogog long enough for Shimmerscale to escape before making their own retreat.   Chōmei proved to be extremely effective for the remainder of the Headhunters' battles against the Morlocks. Particularly of note, Chigiri used the blade to destroy Mesogog's physical form and strike at his spirit, severing the cambion's ability to use undead to rebuild his body. Later, Chōmei was used to strike the final blow against Levira in her true monstrous form, destroying the insane aberration once and for all as she cackled that her allies would soon come to Nexus to finish the job she started.
