Polaris, the Star Bear

Polaris is a powerful celestial who resides on Mount Celestia, serving as the main guard of a facility that houses evil artifacts and persons captured by the forces of Good. He is also the former guardian angel of Hugh Morris, assigned to the former aasimar at birth. He influenced the young adventurer in subtle ways, giving him signs and gut feelings that often aided in his adventures.
The pair did not meet properly until Hugh found his soul nearly drawn to the Seven Heavens after falling to the claws of the green dragon Feyrbrand. Hugh's life was spared thanks to an intervention by Skein, Priestess of the Raven Queen, and in that moment he met Polaris face-to-face. Polaris gave him a gift of knowledge, informing him of the true power of Chigiri's fabled swords and the role they would play in stopping Levira.
When all the Headhunters ventured to the Seven Heavens in the flesh, they met Polaris when they arrived at his complex to offload Sweetmeat. Polaris allowed the group to pass on the condition that Hugh and Leliana, the only Good-aligned mortals present, would vouch for the rest of the party. Once their business was concluded, Polaris wished them well in their future adventures.
What Polaris never realized was that his connection to Hugh was being actively disrupted by Rhith, who was manipulating Hugh through the Gravestone the adventurer carried. When Hugh died for the second time and was reincarnated as a githyanki, the loss of his aasimar body allowed Rhith to sever his connection to Polaris completely. Polaris was no longer able to assist Hugh directly, but nonetheless kept watch as his former charge played a key part in Levira's downfall.
