Kingdom of Meranne
The Kingdom of Meranne is a formerly poor nation that began to come into its own within the last few centuries. It is now a rich farming kingdom, sending its many crops to both surrounding nations and ones afar via the sea. The mage Academy of Korala sits in the northern part of the country, its land held in the school's possession by an old, iron-clad agreement between Korala and Meranne. The nation's primary exports are food and timber; they are renowned for their ability to co-exist with nature and several druid circles call Meranne home.
While the land's soil is rich, other conditions required for farming are lackluster. The shadows of nearby mountains and inhospitable weather that slips through the spaces between them from the regions beyond ensure only hardy plants, rather than edible ones, can survive naturally. Though the area was pocketed with small settlements, it lacked the food resources (or others that could be traded for sufficient food) to truly grow. Until a wizard came to this community with an offer. In exchange for a large parcel of land, he would provide the small kingdom with the means to farm their lands and seed money to get the equipment the task would require together. The king agreed and the two worked together to erect the Suntower, a structure that could absorb the light of the sun and refocus it deep into the kingdom's territory. Swaths of forest were cut away to make room for farmland and finally the people of Meranne were able to prosper.
