Eldingar Toreros is one of
the Crows elite thugs, serving in their security division under
Calindor. He is a powerful martial specialist who bolsters his melee combat skills with command over lightning magic. Eldingar is a proud warrior and seeks a rematch against
Elycia Mirais after she insulted him and fled, intending to fight her to the finish this time.
Welcome to Haven City Arc
Eldingar was one of the heavy hitters called in to reinforce security at a
Crow hideout after several street thugs were beaten up and potentially followed by their attackers. This indeed turned out to be the case when a group of adventurers attacked two nights later and Eldingar led
the Crows counterattack. His battle prowess was enough to break
Vinnie Vice's magical echo nearly instantly and scare the half-orc off. He then confronted
Elycia Mirais and managed to wound her before she was able to flee. The bard mocked Eldingar as she retreated and he noted that she mentioned being part of a group of four, which he informed his superiors of after the adventurers escaped.
Though he lost the adventurers, Eldingar had the foresight to keep the cloth he used to wipe
Elycia's blood from his blade. This rag made it much easier for
the Crows to scry the adventurers and learn more about them. After the adventurers managed to elude
the Crows and escape
Haven City,
Marchioness Eve pointed out that Eldingar was the one member of
the Crows that hadn't slipped up during this debacle. She rewarded him with a magic sword and ring for his efforts, and assigned him to assist
"Black Hand" Kelly in pursuing the adventurers as
the Crows representative.
Journey Into the Underdark Arc
The Hunt Begins
Before leaving
Haven City, Eldingar made sure he was as well prepared as he could be for the quest that followed.
"Black Hand" Kelly introduced him to a second bounty hunter named
Vex and the group set off, using a
██████████ to track their targets. They made their way into the
Underdark but were slowed down by cave-ins the adventurers had left behind them specifically to slow down any
Crow (or in this case,
Crow sponsored) pursuers. But eventually, their targets made enough stops that the bounty hunters were able to gain ground and arrive at the same place the adventurers had been hanging their hats: the
Deep Spire.
Misdirection at the Deep Spire
Eldingar spent most of his time at the
Deep Spire hid away, knowing they would stand out as the only minotaur and tiefling (respectively) present. While they walked in
██████████████████, thanks to
Kelly's █████████,
Vex used her skills as a master of disguise to search the city more openly. After a bit of scouting made them aware of the adventurers activities,
Kelly and
Vex came up with a plan to put a tracker on
Leh'ct. Eldingar viewed this as a waste of time, especially at the cost of revealing themselves, as they already had a way to track the adventurers.
Kelly reminded Eldingar they had a way to track
one of them and this would allow them to keep tracking the group if something happened to that person.
The plan worked successfully,
Vex posing as a guard that "arrested"
Kelly after the tiefling accosted
Leh'ct. She slipped a magical coin into
Leh'ct's shadow in the process and brought
Kelly to the apartment they'd rented fully aware
Leh'ct was following them. After
Vex shoved
Kelly inside, Eldingar repeatedly hit a slab of meat they'd bought beforehand while
Kelly faked grunts of pain to give the young drow the false impression
Kelly was being interrogated. By the time
Leh'ct returned with his allies to investigate further, Eldingar and the bounty hunters were long gone.
Bounty Hunter Ambush
Through their various tracking methods, Eldingar and his allies became aware that their targets were somehow moving across the
Black Loch at incredible speeds. Far too quickly for the bounty hunters to be able to simply run them down. If they were going to catch their targets, they needed to bait a trap and let the adventurers come to them. As they were pondering a way to do this,
Kelly discovered that one of the adventurers had become a target for
waterkleddes. Familiar with this type of demon,
Kelly made contact with some of them and offered to assist in their goal of killing
Elycia Mirais provided the bounty hunters could take some part of her body as proof of death. Eldingar objected to the idea of working with demons, stating the
waterkleddes would betray them, but
Kelly assured Eldingar he was already aware of this and that they would be ready for that betrayal. The
waterkleddes agreed to
Kelly's proposition and the bounty hunters prepared their ambushes, one for the adventurers and another for the
waterkleddes.
Continuing to spy within the
Deep Spire in various disguises,
Vex heard about an elven warship from the surface that had gone down in the
Loch after someone or something attacked it. Knowing something of
Elycia's military history thanks to information provided by
Marchioness Eve, she figured their targets were likely to check it out.
Vex informed the
waterkleddes of this and they made a plan for the demons to lure the adventurers to a cave not too far from the shipwreck where the bounty hunters would be waiting.
The plan worked quite well, from Eldingar's perspective. Only one of the two
waterkleddes survived long enough to get back to the bounty hunters and that one was heavily injured. The adventurers rushed in to finish it, not noticing Eldingar and his allies until
Kelly dropped the invisibility spell he had concealing them. Eldingar moved a bit slower than the bounty hunters but managed to strike the adventurer
Jake with one of two lightning bolts fired from his horns. He was also there to greet
Elycia when she emerged from a solid wall via magic, though she quickly retreated at the sight of the ambush. This was much to Eldingar's ire, as he very dearly wanted a rematch against the rabbit-eared elf. Before he could advance further on the adventurers, the surviving
waterkledde caused a small cave-in when it ran into a landmine set by the adventurer
Sunny that blocked the tunnel between him and his targets.
Shortly thereafter, the
waterkledde killed
Sunny and set off his self-destruct mechanism on the farm side of the rocks. The blast blew away the rocks and set off an explosive
Vex was putting in place to clear the rubble before the bounty hunters could retreat to a safe distance. With the warforged dead, they moved forward to finish the others but were unable to prevent
Elycia from fleeing with
Jake.
Kelly made a point of finishing off
the injured adventurer left behind via an eldritch blast to the head, despite this man not being one of their targets.
Shortly thereafter,
Kelly used the sending stone provided by
Marchioness Eve to update her on
Sunny's death with the assurance the other adventurers would soon follow. The bounty hunters started to discuss what they'd learned about their targets abilities as they began to formulate their next plan.
