Marard's Plant Nursery

In the Eastern Faunland, just north of the river Boc, is a deep place of Power. It was here the Druid Marard Norl established a nursery and a place of healing for plants and animals in the year 1233.

Healers of Plants

The natural power of the place is easily spun into healing energies by the Faunland druids. Plants and animals within the vicinity heal easily and recover swiftly from disease. The druids may also channel power into healing a specific wound or ailment. In the early days, sick animals brought by the local herdspeople were their primary patrons. But as time went on, caring for plants became the Druids' sole focus.   All manner of people asked of their services: farmers who sought blessings on their bags of seed, botanists asking for replication of important plant samples, even government officials from lands as far off as Helphar who brought potted samples of sickened crops and asked for a poultices that would stave off the famine.   Perhaps the most famous story of all was in 1370 when the druids of northern Nilofaur brought a young but wilted Fymitre tree to the Nursery. The fabled "memory tree," when fully grown, has the ability to influence past or future events. Two years of intensive care were devoted on the tree before it finally showed signs of recovery. Regretably, soon after, the valuable Fymitre was made off with by one of their own: the druid Laerut. Search efforts were long and exhaustive but the tree, nor Laerut, were ever found.

Destruction and Decline

In 1402, the nursery was burned down in the civil wars that were raging in the Faunland. Many druids died along with it though curiously not all of the bodies had shown signs of struggle. Though the nursery was rebuilt from stone and wood in 1415 under the supervision of the newly established Faunish government, the fire had permanently damaged the Power of that place and it never again achieved similar fame. In 1497, the place was abandoned.

A Place of Power

The Earth Impel which permeates the ground rises up in several spots throughout the Faunland. This location, in a sunken, fern-choked valley, is one of the largest such pools and has great potential power. Only the Druids are able to channel and manipulate this power directly though; sorcerers and other magic users being able to channel from animals and other beings such as Hekkauthra.
