Gauthra

The People Anterior

Gauthran, Gathaur, Dathuar, Kautra   The beings who lived on earth before the arrival of the Gods and the inception of linear time. They are a vast classification of creatures both intelligent and animalistic and the name “Gauthra” is often applied as a gross oversimplification of as many as a thousand different races and species.   A common thread among the Gauthra was a connection to the earth, manifesting as an inherent understanding of its workings. Those among the intelligent Gauthra who farmed land and developed societies rarely suffered since their needs aligned closely with what the earth could provide. Also common among the Gauthra was the lack of perception of Time. Or rather, Time was understood and apparently linear to each creature but freeflowing and unbound at the universal level. In modern day, the Gauthra are divided into several subgroups based not on species or culture but practicality in regards to the Newborn people and creatures of the world. Regardless, it is a useful structure to abide by: after all, it is us Newborns who read this to gain insight into the cultures and functioning of the old world.

The Extinct

These are the Gauthra who perished at the dawn of Time and left no trace of their existence. They are only known by the tales of the Gauthra who survived and continue to survive, known as the Extant. Understandably, very little is known about these beings but estimates of their variety range wildly stretching from a few hundred insignificant creatures to thousands of species of ranging intelligence and culture. The initiation of Time seems to have broken something fundamental in their bodies and these creatures have perished, live in captivity, or are extraordinarily rare. Notable peoples:
  • The Drin Honne
  • The Oozoriand
Notable creatures and plants:
  • Fymitre*
  • Thistle Canx
  • Diricimar
  • Jodil

The Extant

When Time began, these Gauthra adapted or kept on living. Some even flourished in the new environment, as is the case of the [Newborn]s. The reasons for these creature’s survival is difficult to comprehend but it is understood that whereas Time destroys the bodies and forms of some Gauthra, these are unaffected or affected in a positive way. Notable creatures:
Genetic Descendants
