Session 32 - The Empty Plate
General Summary
The party set out on their way to HansPuckett HQ! Their first day was quiet, allowing Hamilton to work on repairing his gun while Sasha and Finn conversed. The day ended with a calm night by a pond. The next day, around early afternoon, Finn and Hamilton noticed a potential storm brewing in the distance. While Hamilton continued to work on his gun, Finn was on the lookout for a place to hide out from the storm. He found a tree in the middle of a field, where Peanut and the carriage were parked. All seemed to be okay, until Peanut began to cry out! Running outside, the three party members witnessed Peanut being grabbed by someone. Upon further inspection, this someone was actually a Wights! And it attacked! After it was swiftly dealt with, the party looked it over. But it wasn't over yet... 5 more Wights emerged from the brush and attacked the party. The trio were forced to fend off the undead while struggling in the muddy terrain and dangerous storm. Sasha was struck by lightning towards the end of the fight, severely injuring her. When the Wights were killed, a man called out to the group. As he got closer, it was revealed he was a large Human. He claimed to have an inn nearby that they could stay in for the night. After some hesitance, the party took him up on his offer and brought Peanut and the carriage along, too. They ended up in "The Empty Plate", a small inn just off the path. The group went inside, where they worked on getting into a fresh set of clothes and warming up. During this time, the man introduced himself as Vernon, and said he owns the inn alongside his mother. There was also a lone elf in the corner, drinking. The trio introduced themselves as well. Sasha helped herself to the pork cutlet on special... Vernon's mother, Frieda, entered and welcomed the guests, showing interest in Hamilton *wink wink*. The three bought rooms for themselves and slowly went off to bed. Finn stayed down in the lobby, where he attempted to feel the warmth of the fire. He didn't feel warmth, but he did feel pain from sticking his hand in the fire accidentally. Sasha heard a noise that woke her, and found Vernon in a side room, stuffing something in a bag down a chute. In an incredibly tense scene, Sasha forced Vernon to open the bag, revealing a deer carcass. Vernon explained that he hunts at night so as not to scare his mother with dead animals, and has to take them through an alternative path to avoid the risk of her seeing them. Finn noticed the commotion and came up to investigate, only to be extremely confused. After much hesitance, Sasha relented, and went back to bed, telling Finn to simply "keep an eye out"...
