Ethilia

Goddess of Art, Poetry, Fate, and Music

"Creation is the most beautiful of tributes to the divines."

Lady of the Muses

Ethilia is the patron of songtresses, poets, actors, painters, sculptors, tattoo artists, thespians, bards, and dozens of other professions in the fine arts. As the daughter of Gaia and Basorus, Ethilia inherited the love of the natural world and the act of artistic creation from her divine parents. Her devotees gather in great halls, boisterous taverns, and out in nature to enjoy merriment and beauty through song and dance. Many Bardic Colleges around the continent count the Lady of the Muses as their patron, inspiring their pupils to infuse their creations with love, passion, sorrow, and fear in equal measure. As the patron of the fine arts, Ethilia does not place a value difference in the various forms of expressions mortals create. She supports the toiling aesthete regardless of their disposition, whether creating art to express boundless joy or bitter grief. Ethilia, however, does not uplift art which serves to scorn the downtrodden nor spread hatred and oppression. The propaganda of the oppressors have no place in Ethilia's tapestry.

The Weaver of Fate

Less known than her patronage of the arts, Ethilia is also the deity most associated with fate and the tethers that connect mortals to each other. It is said that reality is a painting being worked on for eternity by the Fates. The future may not be known, but once it is written, what is fated will come to pass. Ethilia weaves the threads of fate, playing a part in every mortal connection. Viewing life as a drama, Ethilia appreciates the darkest hour and the triumphant ascent alike. Many devotees of the Fateweaver are oracles and soothsayers who predict and forewarn of things to come or predict the fate of others. Card reading and tarot are a popular practice among worshippers of Ethilia.
