Shar

Queen of Thieves, The Shadow Mother, Mother of the Night

Shar, (sh-ar) one of the most mysterious of The Eres. She did not take part in the creation of Naneth nor the creation of life upon it. In fact, she withdrew to The Void during the entirety of the Age of Creation.   After The Betrayal, the conflict, and the departure from Naneth by the Eres, Shar turned her attention towards The Mortal Plane from The Void. Shar viewed the departure of the gods as abandonment towards the mortals and other life they had created. From that point she on she aided the mortals, focusing on the most downtrodden of the races. Why Shar felt compelled to watch over these beings is unknown, for her reasons were her own. She gave power to those that could not provide for themselves, giving way to a league of thieves and minor spell-casters. Giving them just enough power and skill to survive the dangers of Naneth.

Worshipers

The Queen of Thieves, The Shadow Mother, Shar embodies the spirit of the helpless and poor. She is revered by those that live within the underworld of Naneth's grand cities. Beggars in the streets pray to Shar for a good take, and offer her a percentage in tribute. Shar does not judge between good and evil, equally helping creatures of both alignments. It is said that Shar may have inspired the creation of the famous thieves guild; The Silver Fox Guild. The Silver Fox may be her most devoted follower.   The Rogues, Rangers and other potentially shady folk of the world often count her as a patron, drawing arcane trickery from The Void, where Shar resides. Paladins that have fallen from the grace of Torm also have a potential home within Shar's cold embrace.

Artifacts

The Key of Many Locks”; rumored to be a large black key, made from obsidian. It grants the user ability to open any lock, no matter the difficulty. It may also be used upon creatures, granting the user the ability to see the target’s inner most thoughts and desires, seemingly “unlocking” their minds.
