Priest of Vitaria Rank/Title in Nainoxia | World Anvil

Priest of Vitaria

Being a priest of Vitaria is one of the most selfless professions in the Empire. It means fully dedicating yourself to the worship of life, its preservation, and the healing and aiding of those in need. A priest of Vitaria is always welcomed in any town or city, and their dedication to healing and helping is recognized through the Empire. Anyone can be a priest of Vitaria, as there is no requirement of gender or age. The only thing necessary is to show interest in the temple and its work, and eventually an Archpriestess of Vitaria will offer the position of priest. Additionally however, magical and clerical powers are not always a given, and in many cities the priest of Vitaria has no more than basic medical knowledge. In older times, the priesthood of Vitaria would also defend against the undead and demons, though in modern times the Adeptus Justicari have taken up that role, and the Church of Vitaria is restricted to healing and helping.

In many small town that have no church, and not enough money to build anything major, the Church of Vitaria will make sure that some representative of them exists there. To do that they will either send a particularly ambitious priest, or send representatives to make the already existing carers and medical people into priests of Vitaria. Which of the options will be used depends on the town or community in question, its size, wealth, and compliance with the Empire

Requirements

In order to become a priest of Vitaria, someone needs to be appointed as such by an Archpriestess of Vitaria. This can happen in two main ways, firstly, someone who is involved in a temple, helps tend to wounded, maintain the temple and assists the priests with chores. Secondly, if someone is given the blessings of Vitaria from her, and shows miraculous powers granted by her, signified specifically by healing magic.

Duties

The duties of a priest of Vitaria are to tend to their temples, and protect and nurture the communities that are built around them. To achieve that, the priests have healing services that are usually free of charge, though more complicated and harder things may require payment. They also bless the crops, rivers, and the land around them, so that food will be plentiful, and all rites of birth and death are done.
