Kehjian

Kehjians are a people of the grasslands and savannahs of the Southern Corridor, primarily found residing in Kehjia, Vankya and Strossenberg.   The majority of Kehjians are orcs, or humans. Kehjian orcs tend towards green skin with yellow undertones, while Kehjian humans tend towards warmer and golden skin tones.

Culture

Shared customary codes and values

Kehjians tend to be exceedingly distrustful of large groups of people and formal organizations - a fear rooted in a history of being controlled by corrupt and violent warlords over the past hundred years. For many Kehjian villages, the only visitors they allow are long trusted traders, or the soldiers of local warlords demanding tribute - and the last only for the sake of survival.   The bonds between the members of a community are nearly unbreakable. Despite whatever personal grievances one might have with another family of their community, each person knows they must implicitly trust each other over any outsider. Few choose to leave the safety of their family homes, and exile remains a terrifying prospect.

Cultural Stereotype

To other cultures, Kehjians can seem incredibly paranoid and inhospitable. Inexperienced merchants are often insulted when they are not allowed into Kehjian villages, and would be romantics are dismayed when the person they are trying to woo always insists on bringing a third person along for safety.   Kehjians are have also picked up the stereotype of being manipulators and enchanters. While many practice enchantment magic, most only master it enough to shield their own minds. Regardless, those hiding secrets tend to be incredibly reticent to deal with Kehjians.

Enchantment Magic

When Veilcasting made itself present in the Southern Corridor, Kehjia was at its center. Dozens of conquerers utilizing rose and fell over the generations, and the spread of other enchantment magic only grew as others sought to imitate them.   In order to protect themselves the dangers of enchantment magic, many Kehjians are trained in the mental arts. Protecting and detecting enchantment magic is the extent of most Kehjian's ability, but the knowledge lends itself to learning more offensive magic as well.  Well trained Kehjian mentalists are valued as advisors and spymasters across the continent - if their loyalty and honesty can be assured.
