Goblin Species in Nailara | World Anvil

Goblin

Goblins are the short statured green skinned humanoids that primarily hail from the Needle Hills. While most of the goblin population on Aisoa live in semi-subterranean dwellings in that region, recently they have become much more common across the Cradle due to the Usminan-Calashi War.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Goblins are green skinned humanoids that stand between 3 and 4 feet tall, with long torsos and arms, and short legs. Their eyes generally come in shades of red or orange, and have no noticeable pupils.   Goblin heads are wide and angular with large mouths, and they have long, tapered ears that stick out from their heads. Most goblins can control the movement of their ears quite well - while many other humanoid species find their facial expressions hard to read, ear movements remain more noticeable.

Growth Rate & Stages

Goblins have a short gestation period of four months, and almost always have 2 children at a time. Children mature quickly, but goblins have a shorter lifespan than most humanoid species - it is a rare feat for a goblin to live past 60. Most goblins stop growing at about 11 years old.

Ecology and Habitats

Goblins are believed to originate from the hills and mountains of Central and Southern Aisoa, where the Calashi clan lives to this day.   Goblins are particularly suited for tight, cramped spaces such as caves and caverns. Their body structure makes climbing and clambering through tunnels and tight spaces safer and more comfortable than most other species.   Most modern goblinoid structures display this, with interwoven structures and criss-crossing bridges and ladders.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

Goblins are naturally diurnal, and see best in darkness or dim-light. Goblin hearing is particularly acute, but their sense of smell and taste is poor.
