Caheb War
Ol' Caheb
A popular sailing shanty was written about the sinking of the ship that started the war.Oh we smugglers dream to run the line, way down south
Weigh'd down low with our hearts and gold, way down south
We smugglers dream to run the line, chasing dreams of ambervine
We smugglers dream to run the line, way down south
[Faster]
We smugglers dream to run the line, way down south
Weigh'd down low with our hearts and gold, way down south
We smugglers dream to run the line, but that dream cannot be mine
We hear the creak of Ol' Caheb,
We know the run'll leave us dead,
We smugglers dream to run the line, there we sail
[Faster]
We smugglers dream to run the line, way down south
Weigh'd down low with our hearts and gold, way down south
We smugglers dream to run the line, dreaming, pining, thats our crime
They caught us in the dead of night,
Creaking, snapping, theres no fight,
We smugglers dream to run the line, hear us shout
[Faster]
We smugglers dream to run the line, way down south
Weigh'd down low with our hearts and gold, way down south
We smugglers dream to run the line, screaming, burning, its our time
Ilvesha's grasp is firm and cold
Listen here the story's old,
[Progressively slower]
We smugglers dream to run the line, way down south
Weigh'd down low with our hearts and gold, way down south
Chasing dreams of ambervine, way down south
Dreaming, pining, thats our crime, way down south
Screaming, burning, its our time, way down south
We smugglers dream to run the line, way down south.
The Conflict
Prelude
Prior to the Sokolan Cataclysm, Indo suffered from many years of compounded taxes from trade slowly trickling in from the east through Vankya and the other nations of the Southern Corridor. After Sokol fell, these nations lost access to the land routes and trade they had once relied on, and Indo became one of the only routes to the rest of the continent. They implemented their own harsh taxes at their ports, and relations with the other nations in the Corridor quickly worsened. Unwilling to pay these taxes, smuggling and piracy increased with most traders attempting their best to avoid docking in Indonese ports at all. The conflict is named after the Caheb, a merchant vessel bound for Sordurland. They attempted to bypass the Indonese blockade, and were sunk by the Indonese navy. In response, Vankya formed a coalition of other nations to invade Indo.
