Woodmen of Wilderland
The Woodmen of Wilderland are the descendants of those Men that found their way to the VALLEY OF THE ANDUIN about 500-600 years ago. These men came from various areas looking for new lands and a fresh start.
These hearty frontiersmen have carved out communities throughout the valley and in the eaves of Mirkwood. Their villages usually consist of a hill around which a palisade has been built. They place their homes inside as the land outside is hostile and they need protection through the night and other difficult times. While loosely associated there is no government or law above each villages band of elders. This is supplemented by the whole adult population, or WULD in their tongue, when conditions require larger actions.
In happier times many Men lived in the VALES OF ANDUIN and in and around GREENWOOD THE GREAT. Today it is lightly populated, and what Men there are live in loosely organized tribal communities. One of the largest of these groups are the Woodmen of Wilderland.
These Men liver mainly in the Western Eaves of Mirkwood where they make a meager living working with the woods and other products to be found on the less formidable edges of MIRKWOOD. These hardy folk have three major settlements at Woodman-town, Woodland Hall, and RHOSGOBEL. Others are spread about in the woods and vales of the South.
