Smaug, The Golden or Magnificent was a great FIRE DRAKE who conquered several DWARF HOMES . The last being Erebor, which he took in 2770 T.A.
The great beast kept this hold until the COMPANY OF THORIN OAKENSHIELD returned to Erebor. This led to his leaving his hold and dying during his raid of Laketown in 2941 T.A.
